Darksiders II’s Survival Mode Makes You Fight 100 Waves Of Enemies

Darksiders II has a new survival arena mode where you fight wave after wave of enemies. How many waves? Vigil say that there are 100 waves in total, and after every five waves, you’re given the choice of claiming a reward, or continuing on for another five waves for an even greater reward.

If you die before collecting your reward, you get nothing. Rewards can be carried over to the game’s regular story mode.

Speaking of which, Vigil also reveal that Darksiders II has a New Game+ mode. As you would expect, this means you can start the game over with all of your equipment and and skills intact from your previous playthrough.

Darksiders II will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 14th. A Wii U version will follow later in the year. You can find screenshots of the arena mode below.

Does this mean that you can get all the skills in the game using New Game Plus?

    • That should technically be possible, yes. When DLC quests are released further down the line, your character will be carried over into those as well.

So looking forward to this game and Sleeping Dogs. :)

  • This game is really getting better and better, most of the upcoming Hack n slash games would fade in comparison, a big game, with a unique art style, with big gameplay with different weapons and a loot system, and an arena survival mode, also it got puzzles, dungeons, open world, small – medium – big enemies, small – big weapons, 2 handed – 1 handed weapons, Epic Story, now really what more can anyone ask for !!!!

PS. if anyone says MP, ………………………………… it will be pretty unnecessary.

As much as I’d love a multiplayer addition to the Arena mode, it really is unnecessary.

      • Totally agree, I actually hate God of War developer for adding MP in Ascension, I mean GOW3 was 6hrs long, why not focus on making it 20hrs long instead.

That’s why I respect Vigil, they are doing it all right, I am not going to lie, I am worried about Co-Op later on in Darksiders, but they may do it in a way that can make me actually support it.

Loved the 1st Darksiders, and I definitely think I’ll love this one too. Can’t wait for a 3rd or 4th one if ever they make them. :D
