E.X. Troopers has VR Missions—simulated combat missions for students at the academy—which you can play in multiplayer. The VR Missions can either be played cooperatively with friends or AI partners, or in versus mode.

Capcom say that multiplayer on the Nintendo 3DS version is local-only. However, the PlayStation 3 version of the game has online multiplayer.

E.X. Troopers will be released on November 22nd in Japan. The PS3 version will cost 6,990 yen ($90) and the 3DS version will cost 5,990 yen ($76).

Strike 1 Crapcom, 3DS local multiplayer only? I know for a fact that the DS had great online with no lag despite the stupid friend code system and 3DS is the same.

I’ll let this slide only if this only applies to these missions, but if this applies to the entire multiplayer functions of the game I ain’t buying.

Calm down. They haven’t even announce a localization of the game yet, and you already complaining?

I have a Japanese 3DS and import games, your point?

  • Still play the 3DS version because I don’t care about multiplayer that much. Provided Capcom releases it worldwide, but given it is Lost Planet maybe they will do so.

    • Solomon_Kano

I actually think that’s why they won’t. Lost Planet 3’s suddenly more western direction and a super Japanese spin-off? Makes me think this is staying in Japan. I really hope it doesn’t though.

I don’t see what reasoning capcom has for not incliuding online on the 3DS version :/ They already have a game on the platform with decent online, why not do the same here?

  • Solomon_Kano

    Will import.

  • I am so looking forward to this… Even if I have to import…

  • XypherCode

I’ll be getting both versions but too bad the 3DS only has local multiplayer. Thinking back, Capcom doesn’t really add online-play to their handheld games.

    • I think this is a specific case where it’s more a result of the game being a Monster Hunter-like, and they feel that local multiplayer will be more important, and thus not really feeling the need to put in that extra effort for online.

But both RE Revelations and Mercenaries 3D have great online multiplayer. :)

      • XypherCode

Yes true. I was about to edit my comment on how this strategy is very much like the MonHun community which gamers coming together and playing local and at the same time online with Frontier and Tri. That in a way sounds great :D

Yeah I really enjoyed Raid mode in Revelations. Kinda wished DLC was implemented for more stages. :P
