Meet Rayman Legends’ New Feisty Barbarian Character

By Ishaan . August 9, 2012 . 1:48pm

One of Rayman’s new partners in Rayman Legends is a Barbarian named… Barbara. She’s one of the five characters you play as in the 5-player co-op game, and Ubisoft gave a first look at her today:

Rayman Legends will be released this holiday season. If you play the game with five players, one player will use the Wii U GamePad, while the other four will use Wii Remotes or Wii U Pro Controllers. You can watch in-game footage here.

A barbarian named Barbara….. Where does that name come from :L

Just finished watching the demo walkthrough video. It look’s like it will be mainly multiplayer focused but i still can’t tell. It looks fun and a bit confusing but I’m sure the controls will be easy enough. Barbara looks like a fun character i wonder what her back story is because you don’t see much humans(?) in rayman.

    This looks very promising.

She looks like she came straight out of How to Train Your Dragon.

    Power of rock: successfully unleashed.

Bless you, Ubisoft.  You are absolved for unleashing Imagine Babyz upon society.

  • I am sorry but at this point it looks like Ubisoft is making Rayman games using flash. The games have a nice artistic feel, but they still look and play like flash-generated games.

    •  Curious; do you have working eyes or are you just a really really shitty troll?

      •  I have sharp eyes that admire beautiful things. Hence I am not a troll, more like a crow…But seriously you don’t claim this flash movie looks good do you? Because it sure doesn’t look anything playable or enjoyable to me.

        • Mike Pureka

So basically you have this preset idea in your mind that a low number of distinct animation frames = ugly?

I guess still art is all ugly by definition because there’s only one frame? :P

Seriously, unless you can come up with some more objective complaint than “looks like a flash movie” (Which, incidentally, means NOTHING, because if you really wanted, you could run extremely smooth animation via flash – it’s just USUALLY used for more cartoony styles which have fewer overall frames.) then you should probably just keep your random thoughts to yourself, rather than criticising the people who disagree with your unsupported point.

          •  Just because you disagree with my point doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to say it. I’m not talking subjectively here either. You basically agreed that the frame rate is low and that it DOES look like flash in your comment. So there you go. Ubisoft did great with Raymen 1,2 and 3. And then they changed their style entirely with Rayman Origins and the game bombed. Need any more proof?

Sigh…..I loved Rayman Origins, too bad Legends is only for the Wii U. I want Barbara! :(

An axe-wielding barbarian redhaired lady fighting to the power of rock.

I can’t say it’s what I expected from the Rayman series, but I can’t say I’m complaining either because I think I am kinda in love.

  • OH lalalalala…

:D Buying a Wii U next year. Wanna play this barbarian!
