Good stuff. Though from what I’ve seen (which is not a lot), it looks like Kenshin Himura is being portrayed more on the brooding side. I hope they were able to find that balance between comedic and serious elements many films struggle with.

    • Well, I’ve seen the actor (Satou Takeru) before in the role of a clumsy, comedic character (Kamen Rider Den-O), so I can assure that he can play light too, for the very least.

I think the casting is pretty spot on.. Takeru’s Oro sounds very cute :)  I’ve been a pretty big fan of Eguchi Yousuke since Tokyo Love Story (well he’s kinda a pretty boy jerk in there but I thought he was cool lol)..  and Takei Emi and Aoi Yuu are both very beautiful as Kaoru and Megumi.. Kanryuu looks perfectly demented and evil too.. no Aoshi *.*?  I thought they cast an actor for him.. this is probably even more faithful to the source than the Phoenix Wright movie.. I need to see both!

BTW, here’s the cover for Jump SQ issue 9, w/ Watsuki’s Kenshin and Takeru on it, both look badass *.*..

        • [Pat pat] We’ll get Aoshi in the next movie soon, um… Aoshi-kun.

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, probably couldn’t fit him in… I hope we would get a glimpse of him.. or in the sequel lol :)..

  • This is getting released on august 25 in Japan, right? I can’t wait to read some reviews from fans of the anime :D

By the way the name of the movie translated means “What is a Hero?”, although I don’t knw why they didn’t put “ka” at the end? I know some Japanese.

Probably because its a questioning statement that does not require any answer(s) (something like rhetorical question), just my thought :)

        On the article,
As much as I’m excited about this, I’m trying to get my expectation as low as possible. I really don’t want to get disappointed.. I grew up watching the anime so this is probably gonna bring back some memories

      • Huh? Where did you read that? If you mean “Hiru Nan Desu”, wasn’t that the title of japanese variety show? And hiru would mean noon/daytime (not hero which would be pronounced “hiiro” in japanese).

  • I hope I can find a one or two day showing of this movie somewhere. San Francisco ought to have it I hope.

    Looking pretty good!

I wanna know what the songs playing in the background were though.

It’s amusing to see that in the youtube comments, there seems to be a group that’re excited that Kenshin’s in the kitchen.
