Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation Trailer Shows Off Vita-Specific Features

By Ishaan . August 15, 2012 . 8:30am

Ubisoft have released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita, showing off the game’s Vita-specific features such as “Touch to Kill” and protagonist Aveline’s basic weapons, the Blowgun and Sugar-Cane Machete:

Ubisoft say Aveline is of mixed French and African ancestry, and comes from a background of luxury, thanks to her father’s status as a wealthy merchant. She decided to become an assassin after witnessing the contrast between different societal classes, with the aim to aid those that were unable to defend themselves.

This AC looks very promising. I’m pretty sure this will give the Vita a huge holiday boost if it turns out good. When it comes to CoD:Declasified however, it looks plain old bad. Specially with the news that nihilistic studios are the ones developing it, and you guys know how good Burning Skies was………..wait.

    • Solomon_Kano

And this is why I said I saw AC doing good and Call of Duty not lol.

      • Domii

Well to be fair. If I had any idea that the guys that made Burning Skies were the ones behind this, I would’ve jump off the bandwagon too lol.

        • Solomon_Kano

Yea, definitely couldn’t have seen that coming lol. I did figure that Activision wouldn’t have one of their important teams on it though. Didn’t think they’d leave it to those guys though lol.

          • Domii

It’s a shame really. Oh well, I guess we gonna have to wait and see how things are gonna turn out.

I’m actually going to feel pretty bad if the game does sell lol. I’d hate to see someone suckered into a game that wasn’t at all what they expected simply because it said COD on the box. Beyond that, it could actually be damaging. Having a game in a big name series = good. That game sucking beyond anything previously seen in the franchise = bad. But, again, we’ll see.

I look forward to AC3L’s performance though. Ubisoft clearly hasn’t just rushed this out of the gate and, despite the number, it’s its own title rather than a simple spin-off. Should do well. Now how well is where it gets interesting.

  • Darkrise

I hate to nitpick, the game looks great and all but I can’t help but feel that she sounds so arrogant when she says that she’s their ONLY hope. There’s plenty of assassins that could be and all together they should be hope including other factors like leading figures and such, not in the hands of one SINGLE assassin.

    • d19xx

The “only hope” part is used to egg gullible heroes to do mundane task. You got nothing better to do anyway so just play along…

  • Still iffy about the whole “Touch to Kill” thing. But I’m sure they’ll probably limit how much you can use it, or something like that.

Looks great. The Vita could really use a game like this.

While mobile game developers are doing their best to imitate physical controls on touch-screen devices, Vita developers are doing their best to apply some of the most cumbersome touch-screen controls on their games. To them it’s 2007 again and they just gotta use that touch screen. :/

    •  Its not that bad and generally optional.  The touch to pickup guns in Uncharted was nice

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Well with Sly Cooper being pushed to early next year, this just jumped up to being my most anticipated Vita game for the holiday season. And with good reason, too. Seems like they haven’t skimped on any detail in trying to make this the perfect AC handheld game.

    Touch to win.

  • tha_Chiller

finally a strong African American woman as a hero, pardon my excitement – don’t see that too often

aside from that “Touch To Kill”? smh…developers official think we’re dumbasses

    • With mixed french heritage. Her accent ahhh. Her name though what… xD How do you spell that? I am Aveline dlksjdslksdjsdlk? xD Sorry but that was a french last name I think and it is hard to understand.

      • Symbol de Au

African American basically means mixed anyway.

        • That is… somewhat true. But she is French/African. So meh.

        • a

No, that dont even make sense. Not all black ppl in the old days of America were slaves and were raped/sex with white ppl. It’s funny that black ppl gonna be “mixed” while white, asian & latins can be “pured.”

  • Göran Isacson

Touch to Kill looks a BIT unbalanced, and I wonder how she gets away with wearing like, nothing that conceals her face at all… but I must admit, I am kinda pumped to see a female assassin star in her own game.
