Konami have announced a release date for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the U.S. The PlatinumGames-developed action title will be released on February 19th, 2013. Below are some screenshots to go along with the announcement, and you can find a new trailer for the game here.

I recently developed an interest in this game after just ignoring it for a while, and now it’s going to be released on my birthday. Go figure.

Since it was revealed that Platinum would develop this, Ive been following it.
Oh, and it will be released 2 days before my bday.  Enough time to finish Bayonetta and Vanquish.

  • Platinum own the action genre. Unfortunately their games are way under-appreciated and do not fare well at retail. I hope with MGR:R they finally get the financial recognition they deserve. It looks great, runs at 60 fps and looks like a lot of murderous fun. Finally we can freely express our sadistic mass-murderer tendencies – as you know, all gamers are sadistic mass-murderers, doing nothing but slaughter thousands of virtual enemies each week – in a stylish way.

Bulletstorm coined the term “kill with skill”, MGR:R might put its own spin on it.

  • Lord, between this, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, and a slew of other games, my wallet is gonna be empty early next year…

Metal Gear games aren’t normally my cup of tea to play (though I do like their story). This game though has got me mightily interested. Dollars to plunk on this one I think.

Is it just me or do these screens look much better than the last batch?

While Clover/Platinum and I have a mixed past, I had fun with what I played at E3 and I love Metal Gear. Can’t wait!

So you noticed too? I thought it was just the lightning used.

There is something I have been hoping this game would have and is the consequences of cutting opponents until they are a hundred pieces. If the player has been acting merciless, it could affect Raiden’s personality turning him into the sadistic killer (Jack the Ripper) that briefly talked in the first Revengeance trailer. This in turn would result in multiple endings encouraging the player to replay the game in a different way.

I like the sound of that! Sounds awesome! ^_^

My most anticipated game of next year. About done with MGS3, so I’ll be moving onto PW and replaying MGS4 next. Really can’t wait for this.

    Robotic dog with chainsaw tail.

….as if I wasn’t convinced enough to get this game.

  • Platinum Games, 60fps = d1p!
