Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PC Version Announced [Update]

By Ishaan . August 16, 2012 . 9:10am

A PC version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is in development, Konami announced this morning at the Gamescom trade fair in Cologne, Germany.

The PC version of the game is being worked on internally by Lords of Shadow 2 developer, MercurySteam, and will be released simultaneously with the console versions of the game.

Konami’s press release also mentions that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be the finale to the Lords of Shadow saga. Additionally, we’ve learnt that both Lords of Shadow 2 and Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate on the 3DS will be released in 2013, worldwide. You can find the latest screenshots for the 3DS game, featuring Alucard, here.

Update: Worldwide 2013 release confirmed for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate.

    PC Version – NICE !!!!!!

    2013…… =(
Well, take your time MercurySteam, I want a great game. That’s all.

  • Barrylocke89

hmm, I may consider trying it out then.

The lack of a Wii U version is a bit bizarre. I’m sure it would sell pretty well on the Wii U considering how many Nintendo fans are castlevania fans as well. Oh, and the prequel to this game is exclusive to a Nintendo platform. :/

    • Solomon_Kano

I dunno, the sentiment coming from most of these LOS articles seems to be that the Nintendo fans only want Metroidvanias. At least that’s the majority opinion around here.

  • Vadim Merzhey

1500 rubles less spent on it. I hope it’ll be worth buying.

  • Domii

I found LoS1 pretty good from what I played, therefore I’m really excited to see how this will turn out. Can’t wait for some gameplay footage.

  • Awesome, hopefully this means that a PC version of the first is in the works so I’ll be able to give it a try.

  • Solomon_Kano

Aw, I was hoping Mirror of Fate would be out this year. Oh well. I wonder why they didn’t save this PC announcement til they had more to say about the game though?

I mean, I don’t play on PC so my version of the game’s been announced, but I can’t imagine this news being terribly exciting when we’ve seen next to nothing of the game.

I just re-watched the E3 2012 trailer and it said Fall 2012, does this mean the game is delayed now? This is such a sad day.

EDIT: Maybe 2013 is for Europe and Fall 2012 for the US?

      • Solomon_Kano

Since MercurySteam is a European studio, I can’t imagine we’d get the game in the US first. So I think it was delayed.

I didn’t give any thought to it before, but apparently MercurySteam is making both Mirror of Fate and LOS2 so them doing both simultaneously is probably why it got delayed. That’s a lot of work for a studio that, presumably, isn’t too large.

        • SirRichard

The devs being European hasn’t stopped the US getting games before us in the past, and hell it hasn’t stopped even when the publisher originally sprang out of Europe.

I would assume the delay is just for all regions in general, unless Konami decide to specify. Probably happened for the reasons you stated, too.

EDIT: And then I didn’t read the updated version of the article, yay!

          • Solomon_Kano

True. Well, least we know we all get it at the same time now.

  • CirnoLakes

Less interesting that many of the other Castlevania games, to be honest. And therefor much less exciting to be announced for the PC.

But still, you can hardly complain about the chance of a Castlevania game coming to PC/Steam/GamersGate/ect.

R: Die Steam. You don’t belong in this world!
G: It was not by my hand I was once again given code. I was brought here by humans who wished to be me tribute!
R: Tribute?! You steal gamer’s money with Steam sales, and make them your slaves!
G: Perhaps that could be said of all distribution…
R: Your words are as empty as your soul! Gamerkind ill needs a Castlevania hat!
G: What is a gamer? A miserable little pile of Konami codes. But enough talk… Have at you!

Can I have Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on Steam… please?

      clap clap clap

That was beutiful, good times, good times indeed. Excuse me for a while, I need to go and see that epic line again on youtube!

  • Tom_Phoenix

While I have no interest in this game, it’s still very nice that the PC version is being handled internally. If there’s one thing that often damns PC ports, it’s the fact that they are usually outsourced to other studios.

This isn’t to say that an outsourced port can’t turn out well, but more often than not, it’s better if the original developers are involved with the project.
