By Ishaan . August 24, 2012 . 9:30am

Senran Kagura Burst’s release is right around the corner. Marvelous AQL will release the game next week, and today, they put out a new promotional video that shows off a good deal of both in-game footage and cutscenes:

Senran Kagura Burst: The Crimson Girls will be released on August 30th. The cartridge will include both the new The Crimson Girls game, as well as the original Senran Kagura: Portrait of Girls, tweaked to bring it up to par with the sequel.

That must be the best thumbnail on a video ever.

That aside, I’m looking forward to the game.

  • XiaomuArisu

Can there be to much fanservice?
Lets find it out after this game gets a worldwide release!

    • Anesia Hunter

Believe it or not, but the series isn’t as fan-service heavy as the trailers make it appear. In Japan they focused more on the fan-service as part of their marketing scheme. A number of us fans have looked deeper into the series (gameplay, storyline, etc.) and discovered that it’s quite a bit milder than a number of animes that have been licensed in the US and became big hits. The game is actually quite a bit text heavy with most of the scenes showing characters actually talking to each other being apart of the storyline.

But, I could see this game being a bigger hit than Code of Princess. But I also see a number of reviewers giving it low scores, since a number of them mainly only give high scores to realistic games, FPS, etc. Which is why I tend to ignore such scores. My opinion: if you like a video game, then get it. If you’re unsure then either don’t get it or get it, try it and if you don’t like it trade it in for another game, re-sell on ebay or give it away to someone else.

      • Leon_Tekashi

Reviews are opinions. It’s best to play the game yourself or look up videos.

      • XiaomuArisu

Well I like sidescroller beat em ups so I will try this…if its possible to try… region lock thingy..Maybe the US/EU trailers (if it get a release outside jp)should focus on the girl-on-girl action….the combat I mean.
Or it will be declared a pr0n game like doa.
BTW Excuse my action joke couldnt resistXD

  • Luna Kazemaru

    LOL that thumbnail

  • Leon_Tekashi

Oh the fanservice, I wonder if NIS America is going to pick this game up and localize it.

  • lorelai4cuties

i hate it..it looks so hentai..why they do this in games…i want to play and have fun not to watch boobies and porns stuff..if i want to watch one i know where to go -sigh-

    • Luna Kazemaru

Uhh because its a legit game regardless and a fun hack and slash :v.

      • Peeka Chu

Mud wrestling is serious business too, but that doesn’t make it any classier.

        • l777l

          So what?

        • $3587643

           Or less profitable.

    • Locklear93

To each his (or her) own.  I definitely don’t want all of my games to be all boobs all the time, nor do I want every female in every game to necessarily be a supermodel–but I’ve also got absolutely no problem with a game being unabashedly heavy on fan service.

Senran Kagura remains one of only two titles I’d consider buying a 3DS for.

    • gaiahatergaia

Comments like these are what pushed people to invent the word “troll”.

But to answer your question, it’s because these kind of games sell, have a large fanbase, and high demand, and this game is fairly popular.

did i also mention it’s getting an anime adaption? if you want a game where u know “where to go”, i recommend Pokemon, or Hello kitty online.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jared.pratt.96 Jared Pratt

the hell are you doing comparing pokemon to hello kitty

        • gaiahatergaia

          …oh there we go again.

    • $3587643

Not every game made has to cater to you, bro. In fact, this game hasn’t been announced for localization so you don’t even have the OPTION to play it. So why is this even a concern for you. Is it so terrible that Japanese people enjoy playing games with bosoms?

    • Fryxell

There are many other types of games out there — perhaps you don’t have the need to play this one? :>

  • Tales_of_Master

To quote one of the gentlemen in the comment section at Youtube….”dafuq did i just watch?”. Sorry guys, I’m still trying to process the video in my mind….nope I can’t come up with anything :D But at 4:14 that was one flabby a$$ XD

  • Christopher Dean

I’d buy 10 copies if this got localized!

    • Vyrus

10 is not enough. I’ll be getting 20 if this gets a localization.

      • Colin Tosh

        What about 33 copies

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    I #^%$$ want this game

  • Abhishek Posooa

    Must..resist…urge…to fap…

  • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

    Come on, XSEED!

  • Colin Tosh

I wonder if RSG would consider this for Europe.

  • Peeka Chu

What an empowering game for women.  Virginia Woolf would be so proud.  I know who the target audience is (young men 15-25), but if this sort of material exists, the same fan-service should be given to BL games for the ladies.

    • gaiahatergaia

Cut the whole feminist and communist crap, we’re here for the games, not to blurt out random fujoshi nonsense.

Also, nearly every male character in Otome games (BL games are rather uncommon due to low demand) is perfect, that’s more than enough fanservice. and this game is far from being “empowering game for women”, it’s all part of the fan service, women warriors with oppai is a do want.

      Thank you.

      • l777l

I’m not interested in playing the game, but I agree with you.

      • M’iau M’iaut

And yet, not everyone here is for the same games you are, or chooses to be so rude when making their comments.

You have been asked to watch the ‘crap’ and ‘nonsense’ thoughts before. Now it is a warning.

        • gaiahatergaia

I’m stating the facts, yo did i insult him/her? did i use foul language? No, i don’t think so, i’m discussing here, and you sir, can send as many warnings as you want. because i’m sure i didn’t break any rules.

Or is it that discussing with a member considered rule breaking? if that’s the case then i humbly apologize, i had no clue, i’ll be careful from now on.

          Thanks.

          • M’iau M’iaut

“Feminist and communist crap’ is opinion, not fact, and one can be rude without using foul language.

Siliconera is also a place where fans of Senran live alongside fans of Pokemon and Hello Kitty Online. I am sorry you don’t seem able to do this.

            Banned.

          • FakkuDesu

Well, see’ing as you went ahead with the whole “i’ll ban you because you voiced your opinion” thing, i’d say you’re pretty immature and unreasonable for a moderator.

“Siliconera is also a place where fans of Senran live alongside fans of Pokemon and Hello Kitty Online” You might want to look into a bit, or does recommending games to a member considered rule breaking too?

“i hate it..it looks so hentai” Doesn’t that sound rude and offensive to you? don’t you think fans of Senran Kagura or similar games would feel offended?

            Siliconera needs new moderators.

          • M’iau M’iaut

@google-fcd904b01fa70d291fc769d7fa0e6d73:disqus Lets take a minute, sir. That Koro no Basket thread http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/17/kurokos-basketball-performs-a-slam-dunk-sells-82-of-shipment/ was given plenty of space to voice opinions. No sides were taken and everyone was warned to stop the vitriol. Here, you responded to two posts where the only thing expressed was one’s personal thoughts on the subject matter and that they wanted their own pervy games. Neither of those ideas should be immediately called out as ‘troll’ or ‘crap’.

Understand we do ask our posters that when voicing their opinion, that they do consider how they go about doing so.

          • FakkuDesu

“i hate it…it looks so hentai” isn’t personal thoughts on the subject matter and wanting their own pervy games, the way i see it, that’s called “hating”, and offending many fans, but hey, it IS an opinion, and i should oppose it by voicing my opinion against it too, fair and square.

and like i said, i’ll be more careful when dealing with these kind of situations, also, i’d appericate if you could unban my main account.

          • l777l

What’s worse, stating that one hates something or stating that one finds something crap?

      • Levin_Scorpius

First; do you even know what communism and feminism even are? Because I am unable to see them anywhere. Your really just shouting out buzz words there.

Second, your statement that Otome guys are already “perfect” and that is “more than enough fanservice”, in addition to your calling feminism “crap” and grouping it with communism, implies some fairly misogynistic and sexist things about what you believe.

Lastly, what is and what is the purpose of using the word “oppai”? (unless it something extraordinarily terrible then don’t tell me)

        • gaiahatergaia

First, Yes i know what they are, and i feel sorry that you’re unable to see them anywhere, maybe studying a bit would help you.

Second, I said nearly all the guys in Otome games are “perfect”, they’re made to appeal to the female fanbase, therefor it’s fanservice, and yes, i called feminism crap because i think it is crap and pointless, that’s my opinion, although i’m sure many agree with me, you’re free to state yours aswell. and no, i’m not grouping it together with communism, you might want to read again what i wrote. also Peeka Chu’s post is as misandristic and sexist as they come, so i don’t know what you’re trying to get at.

lastly, I can use whatever term i like and i couldn’t care less what someone like you might think of it. ;]

          • M’iau M’iaut

And you call this being careful sir? Banned.

          • gaiahatergaia

Wow, really now, am i the only one arguing here? i left the page for good about an hour ago and then someone shows up and starts an argument with me, calls me mysoginistic and sexist and criticizes my use of the word “oppai”, but the only one who’s gonna get “banned” is me?

Dude, i really think you should start taking this moderator job a bit seriously, and don’t just read MY comments, look at it from both sides, not just mine.

          • l777l

He’s got a point: accusing someone of misogyny can be considered more serious than “crap” used as a qualifier.

          • Levin_Scorpius

            editx2:

At M’iau M’iaut’s request, I’m ceasing discussion of this whole crazy palooza that was quickly descending into an irresponsible teenaged drinking party in which everyone begins throwing empty broken bottles and their clothes at one another even though it was originally a nerdy girl’s birthday party.

Also, thank you for defining the term. The reason I didn’t do so myself was because the last time I researched a random Japanese term it ended in untold horrors that are best left forgotten.

          • M’iau M’iaut

As noted, I must ask that the discussions here return to that of the game, we are all moving a bit off topic. Thank you.

Oppai in this instance I suspect is meant to mean well-endowed young ladies.

        • l777l

“First; do you even know what communism and feminism even are? Because I am unable to see them anywhere.”

Anywhere in general or just in this one post? It really could be either one. Note “empowering” and the reference to Virginia Woolf. Go look up empowering and make a connection to the subject matter. That’s feminism.
As for communism: “(…) but if this sort of material exists, the same fan-service should be given to BL games for the ladies.” – The same for every one, with little consideration for market demands.
Back to feminism, that’s an umbrella term. Much under that umbrella, certainly instances of it, can reasonably be considered crap; of course dogma, doctrines and opinions differ.

          • M’iau M’iaut

@Levin_Aquarius:disqus I will ask all sides stop the political and social polemics. I don’t see these girls debating such while slapping each other silly. Please follow their lead.

          • gaiahatergaia

Tell you what M’iau, as long as someone doesn’t attack me or start a pointless arguement with me over something so trivial and ridiculous, i’m just a harmless little fly.

          • gaiahatergaia

We need more people with common sense and reasonable logic here, Thank you 777.

    • $3587643

I don’t understand the purpose of this comment. You already know that otome games exist, apparently. So any claim of sexism falls flat on its face. So why post something so dumb?

      • FakkuDesu

        exactly my point.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jared.pratt.96 Jared Pratt

“the same fan service” I don’t think too many BL fans are much into guys bouncing their butts together. Sexism of males is approached much differently in these sort of things, its not that it doesn’t exist. They’re only gonna make what sells… and/or what they want to make. You have to consider that most game development companies are mostly male dominant. If girls want more BL games, then more girls should become game developers!

And honestly, as a straight male who is into moe girls o/ I find the “fan service” in this much more comedic than sexy.

      • gaiahatergaia

Not really, it’s not a matter of companies, it’s a matter of the fanbase, what they like and what they buy. There are around 10+ Otome game releases on the PSP alone each month, compared to 1 BL game each year or something, it’s just that Otome games are high in demand. notice how reverse harems and Shoujos have been getting alot of adaptions in the recent years, these past two seasons there have been around 4-5 Otome adaptions, compared to one BL OVA, not even TV series.

basically, If girls want more BL games, they’d be buying them, but apparently they’re not, which means there are other things that appeal to them, which means people need to stop generalising and assume that every nerdy girl is into BL when it’s the complete opposite. i Think l777l explained it better.

and i think we should stop going offtopic before M’iau does something neither of us would like.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jared.pratt.96 Jared Pratt

Well, I only meant that as one of the factors… I also said right before that “They’re only gonna make what sells… and/or…”. It goes both ways.

And you have a point about not all nerdy girls liking BL, but the same can be said about all nerdy guys and otome. Despite that BL and otome aren’t exactly white and black either, so it gets more complicated from there.

And I’m not sure what you mean about “us” and “going offtopic”. I had only made one reply on the subject and it wasn’t to you.

          • gaiahatergaia

Yeah, you could say that. i was just saying that the vast majority of female otaku’s main genre is Otome, BL is just a niche within a niche.

and what i meant by “us” and “going offtopic” is that there was a crapstorm going on here earlier and M’iau told us to drop this convo.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000172099718 Dominic Hunter

Isn’t this getting an anime adaptation? Oh, lords…

  • darkfox1

Lol the part where the Gatling gun came out of her dress had me going WHAOH  haha I love this.

  • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

Gatling gun emerges from underneath hammerspace skirt. I- Wuh- Awesome?

  • $3587643

Mother of god, someone please localize this. I will pay so much money.

    • Anesia Hunter

Xseed Games is probably considering it, since they’re the only ones to say anything about the game. There’s a localization request thread for the game in their suggestion forum and since they’ve mentioned they are noticing the thread you can always throw in your request there.

      • Crok425

         Oh Xseed you :)
Though seriously… Xseed likes to take the games that you less expect… I’m still waiting Book of Shadows T-T…

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

This was one of the best five minutes of my time spent ever! =^_^=

  • Jrpgfanatic

I don’t mind a little fan service, but dear lord this is ridiculous.

    • Anesia Hunter

Like said before the fan-service is nowhere near as bad as the trailers make it look. You don’t believe me? Check out youtube and you’ll find a number of gameplay videos of the first game show some stuff of the game. (Also, if you didn’t understand the trailer it’s already mentioned that Senran Kagura Burst will include the first and 2nd game on the same cart. The first game has also recieved all of the improvements the second game got.)

You can also read the translated manga based off of the first game and translated manga of Senran Kagura SPARK! which is basically a prelude to the series.

    • miju

Dude. Your Kirito icon fits your comment so well.

      • Jrpgfanatic

        Ah, another SAO fan. :D

        Amazing series is amazing!

        • miju

You can’t say it’s unexpected to find a SAO fan on a gaming news site. Especially this one.

  • omeganeko

people we are missing the main point here…..they are hitting their butts together so hard it rips their clothes.  We must all come together, hold hands and sing.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Pre-ordered already! Can’t wait.

  • Anesia Hunter

i really hope someone subs this trailer. i mean there are a lot of people who sub full episodes i don’t think a few minutes will hurt and besides this trailer is funny. i can’t wait for the game to get localized, so i can see more interactions between the characters.

  • XypherCode

    Oooyeh! xD

  • Francisco Esparza

boobs aside the game looks pretty fun
