Nintendo Direct Will Bring Nintendo 3DS And Wii Announcements This Week

By Ishaan . August 28, 2012 . 12:26am

The next Nintendo Direct presentation is coming up soon in Japan—August 29th (Wednesday), at 8PM JST (that’s 4 AM PST).

The presentation will focus on announcements for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii. Nintendo have confirmed that no Wii U information will be revealed at this Nintendo Direct (likely because Wii U will get its own event at a later date).

    Cool! More 3DS games :))
I hope there’s another presentation for NA/EU soon after aside from the Wii U event.

  • Two things they NEED to do: Update the Wii so it uses a Nintendo account like the 3DS does instead of making purchases to the Wii itself; Full Virtual Console support, not this secluded Virtual Console service per system.

    • malek86

Uh, afaik the 3DS still doesn’t do account purchases, it ties them to the console like the Wii. That’s why it’s such a hassle to transfer your content to a new console. Right now the 3DS is only connected to your Nintendo account for… little more than cosmetic reasons, I imagine.

The account system will be introduced with the Wii U, and will presumably arrive on 3DS not too long after that. The Wii will probably not get it.

      • Ugh that makes me think even less of Nintendo because they won’t fix their broken service.

        • But… he just said they are going to fix it for their next-gen systems?

          • That doesn’t fix the issue of “You bought all this content on the Wii, NOW YOU HAVE TO BUY IT ALL OVER AGAIN!”

          • Farid Belkacemi

Well, Nintendo is working so that everything you bought on Wii can be transfered to your Wii U… Happy ? :)

          • Pretty sure Nintendo has already stated that digital purchases on Wii will be transferable to Wii U. Being able to transfer VC games between console and handheld a la Sony would be great, but right now there are only like 5 VC games that are on both systems anyway so that can wait until the Wii U is out.

Maybe just maybe this is where the Teased TWEWY sequel gets announced, it would probably stop the fan rage and make everyone happy but that’s just wishful thinking.

  • Shadowman

Maybe in this one they can show us a little preview of SSBB for the 3DS.

    • Eliézer Dos Santos

The only thing that they would show about the new SSB are some artworks.

    • Uh, the new SSB just started development earlier this year. Meaning that it is still way, way early in development. Like still in the prototype stages. Like we will be lucky if we even see a trailer for it at next year’s E3.

Not sure why so many impatient Internet people have such a hard time comprehending this.

    • Ben Sylvia

Yeah, like a sign board with the generic SSB logo saying, “Eventually!”.

  • $30632660

cool, more japan only games that I’ll never be able to play.

    • idrawrobots

If they talk about SMT IV at least I know that it will come out here in the US. If Nintendo talks about their own games, who knows.

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Im expecting Golden Sun 3DS, playable characters in SSB Wii U, and a Mario Golf for 3DS. Those would be some pretty huge bombas.

    • ronin4life

      I don’t know about all that….

    • “…playable characters in SSB Wii U”

Not gonna happen. You should learn to read. It says no Wii U info. :P

      • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Oh guess I meant the 3DS version.

      • Locklear93

Hey, now.  I’m all for pointing out that a question was answered in the article, but “you should learn to read” is pretty much the same kind of insult you and the rest of the Siliconera staff have been adamant about putting an end to. :/

  • KingGunblader

What announcements could they possibly have for the Wii?

“…You’re gonna buy the Kirby collection, right? RIGHT?!”

    • This presentation is for Japan, and the Kirby collection is already out over there.

      • KingGunblader

Oh I didn’t know it was out there already. My bad for trying too hard to be funny!
