Demon Training (Brain Age 3DS) Headed To North America This December

By Ishaan . August 29, 2012 . 2:22pm

Demon Training, the new Brain Age game that was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS a few weeks ago, is headed to North America. Nintendo of America announced the news via Twitter this afternoon.

No, “Demon Training” doesn’t mean that you’re going to be raising monsters or striking a deal with the  devil. The game’s Japanese title is indicative of the difficulty of some of the game’s exercises, which are meant to help train your memory and concentration. As a result, the game will be titled Brain Age: Concentration Training in North America.

A demon is present and accounted for in the game, however. A demonic version (above) of neuro-scientsist, Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, whose work has inspired the Brain Age games, is your guide.

Brain Age: Concentration Training will be released on December 3rd in North America. Hopefully, the localized version of the game retains Demon Kawashima and doesn’t replace him with regular Kawashima.

I can see the controversy news stories now, “Nintendo releasing new game that has the Devil as a teacher”

“Nintendo releasing demon training software to kids”

and the wacky churches (not saying all churches are wacky but the ones like the Pokemon are demons kind) with the “Dont buy your kids the Nintendos because they are trying to seep the Devil into their innocent minds, do what I always say and just Nintendon’t”!

Sadly I see all of this happening, ESPECIALLY with it releasing in December right before Christmas.  I hope that I’m wrong, but…

And yet religion overlooks the fact that god is sometimes good and sometimes evil and almost all the time irrational in Shin Megami Tensei games…

      • Grenalie

Well SMT isn’t as on the radar as Brain Age and Nintendo.

To be fair, the games in which YHVH himself is actually named and makes an appearance were never released outside of Japan (and likely never will be), while the rest only referred to with alternative names and titles and he doesn’t actually show up.

Sounds like someobody who says such a things takes money from the competitors of Nintendo lol

  • Paradox me

There is no Brain Age, only Zuul.

The game that expects you to divide by zero.

That is SO the final training.

Which should not be an issue if you’ve studied your maths and physics right xD

I can see NoA replacing Demon Kawashima with normal Kawashima because not many people (especially kids these days that play Brain Age games) wont understand the Japanese references/puns (Demon Kawashima for example). I can also see some religious controversy here too if it comes out uncensored.

Ya know, I remember when Pokemon and Digimon came out here in the US and I remembered the huge fuss churches made over them by calling them “demonic” and the samething happened with YuGiOh too. What’s gonna happen when a game with a devil teacher is released?

is there an option to replace him with his original form? I like these games, but I really don’t like this ‘demon’ form :/

  • wahyudil

maybe there will be skin for chaing kawashima’s head into angel, demon, original, and mario suit …
