Hit Indie RPG, Bastion, Finds A New Home On iPad

By Ishaan . August 29, 2012 . 3:30pm

Supergiant Games’ hit indie RPG, Bastion, has found a new home on the iPad. The game will be available today (August 30th), worldwide, and will contain the full experience of the PC and XBLA original.

As you may recall, Bastion was heavy on the voice-work, with its personable narrator being its most identifiable trait. The iPad version will retain all the narration, art and music from the PC and console version.

Bastion for iPad will cost $5 and requires iOS 5.1 or higher. It includes the “Stranger’s Dream” DLC as well, and you can read more about it here.

“will contain the full experience of the PC and XBLA original.”

hur hur hur I played a game to experience the controller. As if.

Where did he say that you played a game to experience the controller?

If a platform doesn’t have a comparable system of controls then you can’t get the same experience.

That’s why they use a different control scheme.

wow, i know the ipad has its power, but will it be able to run this smoothly?
my GT630 2gb needs anti aliasing turned off to make this run smooth.
    looking forward to gameplay video.

GT630 is a rebrand of the old GT 430 model if I recall correctly. Those card aren’t even made for playing games and were made for people who want to build a media center as it’s capable of 1080p media. It’s better than an integrated graphics card which is now capable of 1080p media but you can play a couple of more games than it.

Great news; I loved that game. Good for it to be available for a bigger audience.

$5 is a bargain.. still haven’t finished it on XBLA yet.. the soundtrack is really good and it’s hypnotic just to hear the narrator, sounds like the Old Spice guy :)

yeah the soundtrack is so awesome I even ordered it from supergiant game which I got it signed!

      • Aoshi00

wait, you bought a physical Bastion disc soundtrack?  It’s like exclusive from them? On Amz there’s only the MP3 album..

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

yeah, they were selling it during the release of bastion on xbox live. Got a signed copy by the composer or something.

  • Barrylocke89

I still need to play my copy from the last Humble Bundle.

  • WizardoftheBlueOrder

I actually worry about this release, as the PC release of Bastion suffered heavily from needing a game pad.

You could play it with the keyboard, but the game was not designed with it in mind, and it made some of the weapon challenges downright unbearable.

I hope the control configuration they use with the iPad takes this into account, otherwise it’ll be the same frustration.

Good choice for Supergiant to spread out their indie gem.
