Introducing The Racing Miku 2012 Ver. Figma, But You Can’t Buy Her

By Ishaan . August 29, 2012 . 4:30pm

More Vocaloid figurines? More Vocaloid figurines. This time, we’re looking at Racing Miku: 2012 ver., which the Good Smile Company showed off on their blog today. This one can’t be purchased normally, though—you need to be a sponsor for the 2012 Good Smile Racing team. More details can be found here.

As indicated by the photographs, Racing Miku comes with an open parasol, a closed parasol, and a checkered flag as well. There’s a champagne bottle you make her hold on to as well. More images can be found at the links above.

Bull. They need to stop making these exclusives. People don’t want to fork over hundreds of dollars just to get one.

    • Azuku

You can say that, but the fact that these sorts of things not only sell out, but sell out very quickly seems to disprove that logic.

“People don’t want to fork over hundreds of dollars just to get one.”

You’d be surprised at how far the slippery slope goes.

      • Locklear93

I’ve been sliding down it since 2006, myself, no end in sight.  On the bright side, it’s just like a water slide!

      • PoweredByHentai

I’ve gone down the slope a few times already.  :D

        • ThatAzure

Same here o.o; looks at iBRS figma looking all cool and sexy in the display case xD

          • PoweredByHentai

I have the BRS figma that came with huke’s artbook.  :D

I think Kinokuniya Los Angeles still has them in stock.

          • ThatAzure

Me too :D~ And what an art book that is might I add :P!

  • Silver Citizen

That’s a damn crying shame. I actually had the urge to get this one.

  • Visa Vang

The cheapest sponsorship is 8000 yen. To be honest, around $90 for an exclusive is not bad if you’re one of those people (like me), who collects figures for a hobby. (-_-””) (Damn you Siliconera … I love you so much… I couldn’t stop myself from getting one…)

    • Locklear93

Assuming 8000 yen is enough to get the figma (I’m not in the market just now, even though I do collect figures, so I haven’t checked), you’re completely right.  It’s high for a figma, mid or even low for most 1/8 PVCs, without taking its exclusive status into consideration.

  • Spectacularity

    *cries in a corner*

  • Mazdian

Haha, her expressions are so cute and wacky! But 116USD for an exclusive is a bit painful on my wallet. x.x

    • Brandonmkii

I’ve done worse! So I guess I’m in for this :3

  • ThatAzure

Ouch Ishaan that title really hurt D: Anyway, Racing Miku is so cute :D

  • Darkrise

Dammit it all! Why the tease!? It’s bad enough I just quit buying figma’s or anything related, now this comes out, making me want it badly, but noooo~ we can’t get it normally because of “sponsors only”! AGGHHH just- just leave me in corner… (*´д`*)

  • Raiu

I blame Good Smile for making this exclusive on some ridiculous sponsorship…

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

its cool someone would make a clone

  • keithmaxx

So instead of “buying” one, you “sponsor” one… yet you end up paying either way. Don’t see the difference, just a cute-as-ever Miku.

    • Visa Vang

Sponsoring is basically buying. Usually you’ll be buying a space or area to advertise your business though.

  • AzureNova

(Hands wallet over to Good Smile, with a frown) =P

    • PoweredByHentai

I gave my wallet (and a kidney) to Griffon Enterprises.  They make excellent, excellent figures.  Can not resist Dog Day’s princess nor Tama-nee.  XD

ALTER occasionally makes figures that force me into deliberation mode like its Selvaria and Gwendolyn figures.

      • AzureNova

Indeed, Princess Millhiore is always cute and irresistible  =^_^=

  • Bakuryukun

I really like her hair, it’s really dynamic looking.
