A Better Look At Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes’ Snake

By Ishaan . September 5, 2012 . 11:30am

Snake looks kind of old in the above image of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, doesn’t he? Series creator, Hideo Kojima points out on Twitter that this is likely due to the lightning, which makes his hair look white.

Kojima tweets: “Saw many tweet about Snake in grey hair after taking off the goggle. This is due to the rim-lighting.”

Kojima also shared another image of Snake without his goggles, to better illustrate what he looks like in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes:

In case you missed it, you can find gameplay footage of the game here.

  • Grey hair or no, he’s looking more and more like the antagonist he becomes in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2

Knowing Kojima and his love for details, his hair will probably start greying out towards the end of the game. Definitely beginning to look like his older self now, for sure.

Well, this is somewhat disappointing. I actually really liked how he was starting to gray. Considering everything this dude’s been through, you’d think he’d have been gray a long time ago.

But really, I’m mostly curious to see how Kojima finally turns Big Boss into the villain we know from Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.

      Peace Walker definitely gives you some sense of foreshadowing for Metal Gear/Metal Gear 2 u w u But yeah I look forward to finally seeing the turning point itself, as well as Big Boss’s confrontation with Major Zero, and reaching his resolution about The Boss. I think it’s shaping up to be the most pivotal game in the series >w<;

Grey or not he will have DAT ASSXD

  • Budgiecat

This is Big Boss though….not David aka “Solid Snake”

Also where’s his eyebrows? He shaves them like the Guidos on Jersey Shore?

  • Brimfyre

Looks amazing.  I thought I was done with Metal Gear after 4, so I skipped Peace Walker.  But this trailer made me go play Peace Walker instantly.  But I love all the Big Boss oriented Metal Gear stories anyway.

Though After 4 I was hoping they would just move on from this tangled mess of stories and go with Sunny as the main character 15 years in the future with a Grizzled old Otacon as her support.

    • Solomon_Kano

Sunny with grizzled Otacon… lol. That would’ve been hilarious.

    •  It’s VERY difficult to imagine a grizzled Otacon.

Any details about the loss of the bandanna? I hope it makes a return!

    • personablaze

Well…If you played Peace walker(I’m not being a jerk here)Then you’ll remember that the Bandanna was a symbol to Big boss(Cause I think it belonged to The boss),But at the end of Peace walker he throws it away cause..Well if you played peace walker then You’ll know.
On a side note,I think Big boss is starting to look similar to his MGS4 Look(IMO)

      • Solomon_Kano

He really is starting to look like his MGS4 self. Glad Kojima is keeping continuity with his appearance by having him inch towards that appearance.

wow just googled “peacewalker throws bandana” and read the second link.

No wonder I missed that. I’m guessing BB threw it during an Ashley Wood animation which weren’t so memorable. Since the major things I recall from the ending are the phonecall and the talk with Kaz.

I’m sure a character swap or face mask/gear would fix that up no problem :D (like MGS4)

  • Very intriguing. Looking forward to more details.

I just started playing Metal Gear series for real last week starting with MGS2. And man I’m getting excited for this! The storytelling in MGS is like nothing ever made :O
