By Ishaan . September 10, 2012 . 9:00am

Team Ninja recently held an internal development team tournament for Dead or Alive 5, with 33 participants in total. The very last match of the tournament came down to two finalists, who were both developers working on game balance, and the team decided to post their match online for fans to see. You can watch it below:

Dead or Alive 5 will be released on September 25th in North America and September 28th in Europe.

Why does it sound like, from what few cutscenes I’ve seen, that fights take place outside of the DOA tournament?

It feels like the game was only announced a few months ago and now it is coming out early.

    Only two weeks left.

      Where is Pai

The game was announced in the Tokyo Game Show with a Pre-Alpha build in fall 2011. The release date was announced like in Feb or March. So yeah it’s not coming out early. One last thing though, in 2010′s Dead or Alive Dimensions it ended on Cliffhanger, so yeah basically since June 2010.
But Hell yeah!! 2 Weeks, this and Borderlands in September WOOOOHHH!!!!

I hoped Hayate have more variety costumes than his ninja’s outfit.

    Suddenly I’m very worried D:

  • Blackhowling

That was pretty awesome!! Just wish we could have seen the ending fall animation though.

God, it looks so good. x3. Got my collectors edition pre-ordered through Amazon at a mis-price of £35 so I look forward to firing that up in 2 weeks time! ^.^

       Wait, what? :/
They don’t sell them on amazon.uk! How?

      • dude3991

It was on there for like a day I think. First it was like £35, then it went upto £49.99 then they took it down.

About a week later, I get an email saying that all the pre-orders will be honoured. Was pure luck, was fully expecting them not to honour it!

This is why we always keep an eye on the gaming section of HUKD! xD.

Yeah, I noticed too late. Oh well. I preordered the normal version for £33, it will do fine.

Wow what a deal congratz lol

        • http://twitter.com/Neilikki Neilikki

Yeah, I only asked because amazon wasn’t supposed to carry them :/ If I knew I would have also check regularly…

  • Klarktastic

I think hitomi got murdered there, she fell down a building while being KO

PS3 version is looking so aliased compared to the X360. Xbox version for me.

  • Anime10121

Looks really good so far, sucks that certain financial obligations have had me cancel my preorder and I wont be able to actually get the game until sometime next month, at the earliest :(

I hate being behind in fighting games where everybody else has had weeks/months to polish their fighting style before I get to play it:(

  • Claire Oga

For those who have good eye vision, you will notice that @ 2:43, it read “Akira, Sarah, Pai Characters SEGA. Virtual Fighter is either a registered…” So, Pai is in!

    • Nitraion

You sure? if so that great news :D

  • ShinjitsunoKage

::watches ending:: YES!! Exhilarating match! Looks like classic DOA mechanics have been retained and improved! (parrying looks less…”spam-able”) Nice Hayate, though I worried overuse of that cartwheel-sweepkick move would lead to his downfall (like it almost did)..
