The Pokémon Company have released the very first trailer for the Nintendo 3DS’ next Pokémon game, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth. The game is due out this winter, and you can watch the trailer below:

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth has you playing as a Pokémon in a dream setting, and allows you to unlock more dungeons by scanning objects in the real world that turn into Magnagates.

Like the other Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, this one is developed by Spike Chunsoft.

  • So much wanting. Hnnnnghh. I want this game. I am a huge Pokemon fan and pretty much buy all of the games (spin-offs or otherwise). I wish I could get my hands on the 3 WiiWare PMD games but they were never localized. -sigh-

  • komiko12

This style is much better than the DS ones.
For some reason I never liked the art of the previous games.

  • Im throwing money at the screen but nothing happens!

Edit: Wait, you can only play as Unova starters, Pikachu and Axew? That’s pretty lame, I liked the personality test and the chance to be any of the previous starters and other Pokemon on the previous games. Plus, Unova starters aren’t exactly my favourite :/

    •  yeah, it’d really suck to be stuck with Tepig o ,o

  • ninjabart122

I’m looking forward to this game. Is it going to be localized?

    • FFmax

If it’s a Pokemon game then it will come over here, no doubt about it.

      • This game never made it outside of Japan, just saying.

        • FFmax

Huh, I heard about that game, came out the same year as the other mystery dungeon games, didn’t look very fun either. That’s probably why Nintendo didn’t bother to localize it.

  • Curan_Altea

Axew is a choice for your character eh?…….. Can’t wait to play as a Haxorus.

  • Hoping I can still play as a Vulpix~

  • Andres Pena

OMG YES cant wait to get me a Reuniclus and Chandelure <3

  • Godman

    3D Mystery Dungeon!!! Epic
    So getting this!

  • Another game with Furigana! I hope more and more games use this feature!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

  • kylehyde

The only thing that i want to know is… the AR function would work with a round toilet?

    • Hinataharem

      Just don’t drop the system

    • d19xx

Oh cool is that a rare brown Onyx in the toilet….. nope. :p

    • AuraGuyChris

  • It’s the same game as all the other Mystery Dungeon games essentially except with a graphics budget this time. It’s nice to see that Chunsoft FINALLY realized that they have do things (even just a little bit) differently in sequels in order for their games to sell.

  • Detrimont

all i can say is that it looks great, but the protagonist pokemon possibilities are VERY limited

  • Beta Tabe

I am still throwing on the screen but nothing is happening… WHYYYYY!?

  • ArtIristic

Aw, I miss the 2D look. I don’t know why, but it just seemed to fit so very well, and added to the charm. Nonetheless, im still excited.

    • Actually, I agree   I think the sprite work on the mystery dungeon games was superb.  But, I don’t blame them for wanting to try something new.

  • neetyneety

I knew those 3D models from Pokedex 3D would be used eventually. See, they look pretty darn well used in a game instead of just in an app.

  • Evan Groman

I just get the feeling this selection of starter Pokemon pretty much guarantees we’ll have a limited selection of Pokemon ingame, just like Conquest.

But seriously, the Mystery Dungeon series’ best feature was the ability to start with your absolute FAVORITE starter, no limitation. Even a good lot of extra Pokemon that aren’t technical starters. It’s very disappointing.

Oh well. I just hope all the Pokemon will be available in the game.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

wasnt a fan of the spin-offs but this looks fun

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Looking on this game makes me imagining what will happen if they put this model for main pokemon title here.^_^ HNGHHHHHH!!!

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Glorious, thius looks awesome, and our precious Pikachu!!!! This is what Ive been waiting for for so long.

  • SirRichard

So, this is possibly what the next main Pokémon RPG is going to look like? I gotta say, the visuals are actually pretty nice, though the game seems to be the same old Mystery Dungeon fare. Hopefully Game Freak will adapt to the system properly first before releasing, D/P/Pt had some obvious teething pains.

(I know MD isn’t made by GF, I’m just saying.)

  • Ricardo C

No Mii-like Chibi Pokemon? Aww, that sucks. :(

  • I really wished they put in the other starters.
Btw, it says you can pick who you want to be and who your partner is so you don’t necessarily have to be pikachu.
Was hoping they’d put in other pokemon like scraggy ahah..

  • If I were to bend over and spread ’em would the AR dungeon feature work?

  • Nepuka

    Apparently, rather than the personality quiz like the other games, this one takes your picture and decides from that. . . If this is anything like the Mii picture taker, I swear I’m going to be Tepig. My mii always looked ugly from the picture thing. >_>;

    • Leon_Tekashi

Can’t blame them for trying something new. *Shrugs*

    • miju

The quiz thing was most accurate the first time you take it too! I’m going to miss it. :/

  • Sorry, did I just see a 3D Pokemon game in THIS day and age?! Someone help me wipe this smile off my face!

    • neetyneety

If your smile is anything like your avatar’s, I don’t think we can wipe it off….

    • RIght?!  It is indeed exciting.

  • Reiko_Chan

Im loving the 3D graphics but Im disappointed at the partner choices. I was hoping it’d be a wider range of Pokemon to choose from.

    • Christopher Nunes

I think there’s the “current” partners they available… there’s bound to be more! I just hope Riolu can be the player character again, I want to be Riolu or either Charmander as they’re my favorites!

I’m definitely getting this game when it comes out in the US! Got all of Mystery Dungeon games released so far!

  • Nikolai Sumcad

This kind of reminds me of Chocobo Dungeon.

    • I wonder why. What could those two series along with Shiren the Wanderer, Torneko, and Nightmare of Druaga have in common?

  • protofox

Ok. after this game. and these graphics. they have nnooooooooo excuse to not make the next version games after black and white 2, in 3D. period. i loved the flat 2d world..i really do..and the semi 3d u guys started on with diamond and pearl is nice..but next game. 3D world. 3D buildings. push the 3DS to the max..i mean its like a portable wii.. dead or alive, mario kart, etc looks amazing on 3ds..do the same for pokemon :3

    • SerebiiNet

The developers have ssaid outright that they prefer to use sprites as they can be more artistic so I wouldn’t get your hopes up if I were you

      • protofox

        awww fudge…oh well…

  • Renaldi Saputra

pokemon mystery dungeon series will always be my favourite pokemon game ever.. bcos it’s the only challenging and harder pokemon game.. however, it’s a shame that a great series like this mystery dungeon didn’t get much appreciated

    • Z3

And has a beautiful storyline. The ending made me cry

      • Ok good!  I’m not the only one.

      • Renaldi Saputra

at least in this game we see many differences.. Pokemon talks each other, pokemon can do basic attack, and no pokeballs.. just recruiting friends to fight together, bosses are mostly legendary pokemon.. and the thing I like the most is you can link moves so you can do many moves continuously.. Much much better than fighting gym leaders and catching pokemon which is monotone..

  • Z3

I really hope we can make the recruited pokemon, leaders this time around. I hated how it wasn’t in explorers of time.

  • Well, I didn’t see this one coming.  Absolutely loved the first mystery dungeon.  Everything about it.  Never finished the second one, though.

  • Christopher Nunes

This looks superb! Man, look at those 3D Pokemon models… they’re awesome! And the cutscene with Kyurem was epic, and shows how amazing the cutscenes can be using the 3D models that make it better than the 2D sprites! However I’m going to miss the 2D sprites of the games, it had its own unique charm and delivered great emotions from the character when used properly.

There’s still not a whole lot to the choices yet, but it’s still in development so I’ll give them so time. I just hope Riolu and Charmander are still in as Player Character choices, and did they change the quiz thing? I can’t tell if they kept it or removed it for something else… I quite liked it the first time around. When I took the quiz the first time to be honest… I was a Mudkip! Honestly that’s very accurate as I don’t always clean my room and such, so I wasn’t mad but it’s interesting to see what kind of Pokemon I would be.

I’m liking the AR features it has and it looks quite fun! Game is shaping up nicely and cannot wait until it hits the states! Day One purchase baby!
