Also headed to Vita is a Senran Kagura game titled Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus [sic]. That title will be released on February 28th in Japan for 6,980 yen.

Finally, Muramasa: The Demon Blade is also seeing a PlayStation Vita port on March 28th. That game will be released for 4,980 yen, and will feature new content.

    Do want Muramasa.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

    Yes Senran Kagura!!!

  • Zonic505

Oh man, I cannot wait to see how Senran Kagura is gonna look on Vita.

& FINALLY, a HD port of Muramasa! After all these years, it’s getting the HD port it deserves! Now let’s hope it comes to the US.

    • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

       Vita isn’t HD though….

      • Zonic505

Well, the graphics will get an upgrade. The art style was great (seeing as it was Vanillaware), but they begged to be in higher quality.

      • kupomogli

Sub HD, so it’s still better than the original.

        • Romored

Meh, I guess they’ll use the very same assets of the Wii version, it’s useless to remake everything just for 64 pixel of difference (480p vs 544p)

        • Tom_Phoenix

That still isn’t HD, though, so that doesn’t really change his point.

  • DiosFancifulRomp

If we don’t get Muramasa in the states, I’m seriously gonna cry here. Oh please, oh fucking pleeeease.

  • https://twitter.com/kcgst Karu

Oh my god Muramasa  !!! Kinda unexpected, let´shope we can play it overseas :)  !
    (in english T.T)

  • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

Valhalla Knights is a terrible franchise, and I’ve already played Muramasa.

Senran Kagura is great. Though if it doesn’t get localized, the fact that Vita is region-free makes no difference. I still wont be able to understand the game or enjoy it. I want a localized version. While the Vita is struggling worldwide it’s getting an insane amount of niche games localized. If the Vita version of Senran Kagura gets localized I’m sold on a Vita.

Here’s hoping we get Burst and this title localized as well as an official Senran Kagura 2!

    • cj_iwakura

You don’t really need to know Japanese to play Senran Kagura. At all.

      -Ninjas appear
      -Beat them up.
      -???
      -Profit!

      • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

Yea unless you actually wanna navigate the menus, learn how to properly play the game, use the correct items, enjoy the visual novel aspect. Other than you totally don’t need to know Japanese.

        • cj_iwakura

          Exactly!

          Shoot.

  • MrRobbyM

Of course this is announced as I’m currently playing through Muramasa for the first time.

  • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

Getting my Vita next week when I get my paycheck, so yeah… so psyched for Shinovi Versus! I was totally going to get the 3DS games since I own a Japanese 3DS, but why bother when the Vita is region free?

    • PoweredByHentai

I am totally going to import Senran Kagura Shinovi Vs.

    • Herok♞

You still get SK burst seeing as they are two different games at this moment, unless we get info saying the new game is just burst on Vita, also if you have Jp 3DS it should matter if the Vita is region free.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/Ojsinnerz Firo_Prochainezo

Oh boy, Muramasa! Cool, because I never got the chance to play the Wii version before I sold it. Will definitely try it this time.

  • Paradox me

I can’t help but be a bit disappointed in seeing a Muramasa port when Vanillaware couldn’t assist XSEED in localizing Grand Knight History. Of course, it’s possible (probable?) that another studio is doing the port and that GKH just wasn’t worth the resources regardless.

Oh well, Muramasa is great and it’s nice that more folks will get a chance to play it.

    • ronin4life

I find it a little dissapointing that another great overlooked wii game is getting moved to the vita…>.<(yes I know that's stupid.)
      I still keep going back and forth about how I feel about New Little King's Story…^_^;;;

  • http://amc9988.deviantart.com/ amc99

Oh yeah finally I can get to play Muramasa… if it get localized that is.

  • PoweredByHentai

    Hey Ishaan,

Any idea if Muramasa (Vita) will show up in the West?  XD

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

I wouldn’t be surprised if Xseed brought it over with a better translation. It’d be nice for them, too, since Marvelous screwed them out of it the first time and handed the game off to Ignition. :P

      • PoweredByHentai

Mmm.  That said, Senran Kagura…  I doubt that series is ever going to see a US localization.

I had been debating on importing Senran Kagura Burst but I guess that idea has been shelved in favor of Shinovi VS.

But man, Muramasa on the Vita was definitely a pleasant surprise.

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

I have no idea what Shinovi Versus actually is. It could just be a fighting game, because that’s what it sounds like. They keep saying it’s an “entirely new” series. Also, Takaki said a while ago that Kagura 2 is headed to the 3DS when they make it, so this can’t be the same as that game either.

          • PoweredByHentai

Hmm, maybe instead of the 2D brawler format they currently have on the 3DS, Shinovi VS is in the vein of something like Dynasty Warriors?

          • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

Senran Kagura already looks very Warriors-ish. Versus does imply some sort of fighter. Maybe like those Tales of fighters on PSP.

          • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Those are things they’ll probably save for Kagura 2, going by what Takaki said.  But who knows. Anyway, it isn’t far from release, so hopefully Marvelous will send assets out sometime in the near future.

        • Arrei

Hey, hey, it’s not gonna happen if you don’t WANT it to happen!

We’re still keeping the XSeed localization thread active with any Senran Kagura series news and discussion, and more voices can never hurt.

      • http://twitter.com/AnthonyFoster5 Anthony Foster

After Muramasa and Grand Knights History I’d think XSeed would be done with them.

  • ronin4life

    What does “[sic]” mean?

    • Crevox

As it was written. In other words, if there’s a typo or a spelling error or some other thing, this article is quoting it exactly as the source wrote it; including whatever error or anomaly there may be.

      • ronin4life

        Ah.
        Thanks! I had seen that pop up a lot on different stories all over lately…^.^;;;

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

The one constant of every Japanese press conference. :)

    • PoweredByHentai

      sic
adverb /sik/ Used in brackets after a copied or quoted word that appears odd or erroneous to show that the word is quoted exactly as it stands in the original, as in a story must hold a child’s interest and “enrich his [sic] life.”

  • Neophoton

I could never play anything beyond Momohime’s story in Muramasa, and that was because my brother owned the game, so he insisted on playing Kisuke all the time. I’d prefer Odin Sphere on the go, but Muramasa is still a nice addition to Vita. Even if it doesn’t get localized, I can always just import it, region-free and what not.

  • ronin4life

I’m actually surprised to see Senran Kagura on anything but the 3ds… as it was created because of the 3d effect existing in the first place. It only exists because the guy who made it wanted to make a 3d… er, lady filled game.

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

I’m curious as to what this Senran Kagura Vita game actually is.  No screenshots or trailers at all.

      • ronin4life

They weren’t shy about posting a release date and price though…

  • z_merquise

I already got Muramasa for the Wii (it is one of the reasons why I bought a Wii) and it’s really great. It’s good that more people would get to play this game now in Vita.

If Muramasa for the Vita had added content, then I’m surely going to get it.

    EDIT:
Oops, there’s actually new content for Muramasa Vita.

    ENGLISH LOCALIZATION, PLEASE!!

Also, please fix the horrible translation Ignition did!

    • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

The terrible translation, and publishing rights of a dead company might make it a bit tricky to localize. Luckily it was just a beat em up so it’s not like the story/characters mattered that much.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

Its about Story and Characters so yeah it matters

        • http://simplephilistine.wordpress.com/ Arla

A game is not about story and characters. It’s about gameplay. If you play Muramasa for the story and characters you’re doing it wrong.

  • nejihiashi88

english version for muramasa and we want odin spere too plzzzzzzzzz ><

  • Alexander Aubert

dragons crown and muramasa, my vita will be happy

  • https://twitter.com/SaveTheQueenIX Liquid Kaz (Umar)

OMG! …………. Happiness VK3 OH..HELL…YES!!3ds and vita are finally picking up on the software front

I’ve waited SO long for muramasa to be on a non-wii system. I did buy it without a Wii to support the company but, yeah, there weren’t many games (at the time) I would’ve gotten the system for. Glad this is finally being ported.

  • Julien_N

To think there were so many rumors about a PSN/XBLA Muramasa port…
At last, non-Wii users can play the game, which is really fun. A little bit repetitive, yes, but most beat’em ups are like that, and in Muramasa’s case, the small fry is quite diverse, and the boss fights are very interesting. This could help the Vita in Japan as the original Muramasa was quite a hit (If I remember correctly), but if there was a localization, I think it will end up overlooked just as its Wii brethen here. (unfortunately)

Vita Kagura came out of nowhere, though. But this is some good news for importers. Hope that will show our interest towards the series for potential localizations of the 3DS games.

  • Draparde

I actually sorta enjoyed Valhalla knights. so i hope VK3 is good  (and i hope it  has multiplayer of some sort.)

  • Go2hell66

Damn i feel like i’m in the twilightzone, this news is too good to be true

  • Tomcatters79

I just hope that the franchise of Senran Kagura coming to PS VITA next year

  • Splash (눈‸눈)

    NEW MURAMASA CONTENT???? I… I I I I I think I’m sold…. HOPE IT’S GOOD.

  • Domii

While Muramasa coming to the Vita is great news, I can’t help to feel disappointed with Sony’s press conference so far. If this is the only thing Sony has install for the Vita, then they’re in a world of trouble. They need to announce a system seller for Japan ASAP!

  • $3587643

Welp. Guess I’m buying a Vita.

    • HassanJamal

Welcome to the vita side of gaming friend! :D

      • $3587643

Muramasa is the straw that broke etc. If I hadn’t heard that the Vita is in the process of being fully cracked, I wouldn’t be interested.

        • HassanJamal

Well its your vita so you can do whatever you want with it. Im still againts hacking though. Still though viva la vita loca!

  • idrawrobots

Didn’t Sony say something about not having a bunch of ports on the vita recently?
If they add button jump to Muramasa I will buy it again, if they translate Senran Kagura I will buy it.

    • d19xx

I think that’s just John Koller shooting off his mouth again. If they really prevent ports on the Vita then cross-play would be insignificant.

  • Spider-Man

Oh my god yes! Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus! Even if it isn’t localized, I have the ability to import it, unlike with the 3DS. Can’t wait to hear more.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm, i kinda think Senran Kagura for Vita will be a fighting game in contrast to 3DS beat’em up style.^_^

Well considering that Marvelous has been very keen in growing Senran Kagura into another great franchise there, can’t wait more info about that game there.^_^

Not to mention, Muramasa is also coming there, hope that this new one will sell enough to give some justice for that good game there.^_^

  • psycho_bandaid

looking good! Valhalla Knights is at best a B game, but it has its niche. Being able to play Senran Kagura without buying a japanese version of a console I already own is a major plus, and Muramasa several years later is pretty cool though I have already played the crap out of that game. Overall really good news.

  • Yamaneko22

Muramasa with new content? Sounds great to me :D

  • d19xx

So we’re finally getting glorious 3D boobs on oled. :D

    • xavier axol

oOhh the resolution! oled sure does make it look better.

  • TheDarkEmpress

Well the devs of Muramasa had to cut alot of content supposedly for the Wii release….I hope this is all of the stuff that was omitted so it’s truly a complete game…Still can’t justify buying a Vita but I’d definitely support them if I didn’t have to buy a system to play one of their re-hashes….I <3'd Muramasa….an updated PS3 port would've been fantastic but oh well.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

Never read that before… What’s your source ?

      • Nemesis_Dawn

If I recall correctly, it was in Gamefan magazine where I read that too. And that they used HD resources and then downgraded them for the actual game, as well.

  • s07195

Shinovi Versus? I think it should be Shinobi since it means ninja.

EDIT: Oh, so that’s what [sic] meant.

Well, looks like a mistranslation to me as ‘vi’ and ‘bi’ have the same sounds.

  • Herok♞

Glad Vita is getting more games, I need more info before I get excited about either.

  • XypherCode

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus really got my attention (fighting game maybe?).  I hope more info pops up.
For Muramasa, I really thought that it would eventually come to the 3DS. I believe I’ve read an article about this on the site. I even downloaded all the fan-made 3D images of the game to my system lol. But still very excited for it. I hope they can bring it to the west. I really enjoyed it on the Wii and plus this has extra content. :)
Pretty excited for Valhalla Knights too. xD

  • SirRichard

As much as I love Muramasa and as nice as new content in it is, the Vita really doesn’t need ports right now (even if it’s a port of Wii game that underperformed), but I’m still up for getting it. Never played Valhalla Knights 1 or 2, probably going to rectify that soon, and I guess people don’t have to worry about region locks any more for Kagura?

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

The Vita Senran Kagura game doesn’t seem to be a port of the 3DS game, so it may still be a good idea to hold onto that JP 3DS.  I’d think it’d be best for the IP to keep the genres different for both systems, so owners of the handhelds each have unique experiences.

  • RaikageV

    I WANT MURAMASA! o.O

  • MrTyrant

It’s the same Senran Kagura from 3DS? oh gawd and I very interesed in playing Muramasa on Vita.

Is Valhalla Knight 3 any good? because I read a lot of bad reviews.

  • http://Gematsu.com/ Bruno Silva

Hooray for Muramasa! But the Vita still has a long way to go to impress me with it’s software.

Then again, the very moment Persona 4 Golden releases in Europe, I’m getting one, despite the number of games the system has.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Muramasa AND Senran Kagura on Vita? In HD??

If thats true I might just sell my JP 3DS – no reason to have it anymore unless some great games get announced.

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

Senran Kagura is not a port of the 3DS games, and we don’t know what type of game it is yet.  Personally I’d keep both 3DS and Vita for the projects down the line.  *all bases covered* :)

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

Hah, yeah. After my initial confusion/rage wore off I realized that it wasn’t a port. Phew~

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

    Senran Kagura Vita! <3 =^_^=

  • http://twitter.com/DragonHouseAK Eugene Ward

I can’t wait for Muramasa and Valhalla 3. Each Valhalla has gotten progressively better, and with more and more examples of how a raid style game ought to play, the third time could be the charm!

And Muramasa, well, it’s one of the single most amazing games I’ve never finished, so I’m looking forward to spending more time with that also.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Senran Kagura sounds like a fighting game than a port/sequel.
I will get Muramasa for new content.  Maybe a new localization could be done too.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh, now I’m curious as to how the rights to Muramasa actually works… I know the people who made it are Vannilaware (I recognize the art-style), but what is their connection with Marvelous? Could this mena that Odin Sphere and that other game… Grim Grimoire I think, could also be up for rerelease to the Vita? Or are those games handled by other companies in some massive translation-rights quagmire?

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Marvelous published Muramasa and Grand Knights History. That’s the only connection between them and Vanillaware.

      • Göran Isacson

Alright. They must have some pull and connections to Vannillaware still, if they’re the people who announce new re-releases of the game though. Are they VW’s current publishers, or do they just permanently own the IP’s?

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

I believe they own the IP, like in the case of most publishers?

          • Göran Isacson

Aaah, right. I keep forgetting that publishers mostly own the IP’s, not developers, like how say Nier is Square-Enixs IP and not Cavias, unless I am mistaken?

  • midgard229

this is freaking AWESOME! so glad i didn’t get muramasa on my wii, no i can play the better version on the vita!

and im glad senran kagura is coming to vita since the game wont come out on 3ds in america, atleast i can import it on the vita since its not region locked!

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

    Superior 2D goodness confirmed! =)

And curious as a cat for what the heck the SK game is…

  • Juuu

Oh, that’s cool. Will Vanillaware have the time to release Muramasa on Vita, or will they license it to someone then realize they bit off more than they can chew and burn us again? It’d be a shame, since I think Muramasa is really enjoyable in several chapter bursts and would lend itself well to the Vita’s bright lovely screen.

Good news on Senran Kagura too. I got a lotta friends who’ve been dying to import it but were staved off by the region lock. While it’s nice to see the Vita getting some announcements, it’s a little concerning that a lot are ports and spinoffs. Ah well-hopefully it’ll expand the user base juuuust enough to get more developers taking notice of the handheld.

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

I don’t know if it’d be Vanillaware doing the port, since they’ve already got their hands full enough that they couldn’t do a localization for GKH :(  Marvelous has had ports done by studios who didn’t work on the original game (see: No More Heroes), so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a different studio doing the porting.

  • zferolie

    Awesome. I loved Muramasa.

Now, this Senren Kaguya, we know nothing but the name right? It’s not a port of the 3DS version? Only downside to this is that we loose 3D boobs

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000172099718 Dominic Hunter

PSVita 6-Axis takes care of that, to some degree!

    • Göran Isacson

… Now that you mention it… PS Vita has several touch screens, don’t they? For both front and back-

Oh man now my imagination went someplace dirty.

  • http://www.facebook.com/stale.laastad Ståle Laastad

muramasa!! that game is so brilliant and overlooked! day one for sure :D

    • Jesse Thompson

I just hope it gets ported to NA, right now it looks like it’s just announced for JP…

      • http://www.facebook.com/stale.laastad Ståle Laastad

if not, i will make a facebook page requesting it, and force 100 000 people to join it..for real.

      • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

I hope a localized version would be better than the lousy localization Ignition gave the original game. :o

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

I’m glad more people get to play Muramasa!  40+ hours for me to get all the endings for both characters. :)  Hopefully the Vita version will be faithful to the Wii version’s story and that the DLC will be “extra” missions or scenarios that don’t mess with the original story.

  • Alex Cattaneo

    OMG YES!!!!

  • omeganeko

    *foams at mouth* YES!!!

  • Zerita Wilson

darn it need a vita waiting for the white one and hope it comes to NA loved muramasa and the storline

  • Barrit

So much good news. I have heard a lot about Muramusa, so this makes it wayy easier to get into. Also, Senran Kagura! I look forward to hearing more about Valhalla too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000172099718 Dominic Hunter

I swear, if I weren’t outside right now, I’d be SCREAMING with joy!!!

  • Jake_Indiman

    Sigh….One more reason I should buy a Vita….Going to go play Odin Sphere on my PS3 now…..fighting temptation…. :s

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Don’t resist, you’ll enjoy joining the dark-, I mean, Vita-side! We have cookies!! Mmmm~~! Cookies…

  • Solomon_Kano

    *clears throat*

    MURAMASAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

    Ahem.

Aaaand I’m now interested in Senran Kagura. I’ve heard that it’s actually a rather good beat’em up once you get past all the ninja breasts and whatnot. Now that importing it is actually a viable option, I may have to check it out. I wonder if it’s based on Burst or if it’s something else entirely?

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

      Something else entirely.

      • Solomon_Kano

Figures. Title makes it sound like a fighting game.

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

It does, but titles can be deceptive. :P

          • Solomon_Kano

True, true. Can’t say I’d be mad either way this one goes.

    • aoihana

Yeah! You know, I always wanted Muramasa on a portable. I feel like it’s just one of those games you want to curl up and play close-up in your hands.

Being originally on the Wii, I figured it would be on the 3DS, but I guess it’s not much of surprise with Dragon’s Crown being on the Vita. Either way, I’m stoked!

Fanservice aside, Senran Kagura is a pretty good game, I think. It’s great that more people will be able to play it, but I do wonder just what it is that they’ll be playing. It does sound like a fighting game of some sort, so I’m interested in seeing what we’ll be getting on the Vita.

      • Solomon_Kano

I figure they probably ported it to the Vita since they wouldn’t need to add anything with touchscreens to port it, so it’d be a simpler port. At least that’s how it looks to me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a DS/3DS game that didn’t use the bottom screen in some kinda way. On top of that they would’ve had to add 3D so, yea, it was probably just since it’d be a quicker port.

  • Syde Tokai

WOOT Senran kagura all the way. another game i will be impoting like i did with hatsune and gundam.

  • http://twitter.com/VXLbeast VXLbeast

Muramasa is gonna look awesome on that screen.  Pretty cool and surprising news.

  • http://twitter.com/deth_garcia Eder García

waiting for Senran Kagura, that’s a good move for Marvelous since the 3DS is region blocked and there’s no interest for bringing this game worldwide, maybe being on Vita, the chances for a worldwide release grows imo

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

I wonder if Marvelous AQL still plan on making a 3DS version of Muramasa.
If so that be awesome, if not ehh i’ll buy a Wii/Wii U (too poor that’s why) and find the game or maybe i found something to make me get a vita
