The fans are very fast nowadays.

    • SuperSailorV

These are not your ordinary fans. This is

      • Jungo

They are super intense Phoenix Wright fans. I used to frequent the forums back around 2 and 3 and it was a crazy good time.

        • MrTyrant

Now we have to return it seems xD

  • TheRealMalek

Kokone, so really a new partner… (My guess was wrong)

Really, if we don’t hear anything about the Fey family in this one i will bite.

  • D-Rev

Is it just me, or does it seem as if this was somewhat influenced by the movie.
    with this hologram stuff?

  • Niermyico

I actually like the direction they’re going with this. Keeping the same overall elements but with its new perks. Its refreshing. :)

  • Go2hell66

wow this game looks amazing! i love the original 2D sprites but whoever thought of cel shading this is a genius!

  • RF4, FE Awakening, AA5, SMT, Devil Hacker…. and many more. That should be enough reason for me to buy 3ds… but… we’ll see. (damn it region lock! >_<)

  • Tales_of_Master

I’ve gotta stop watching this trailer. I’ve gone through all my pants from just re-watching this -_- The moment I heard that Objection! 2004 theme I knew that this is the Ace Attorney I know and love. Best Objection theme ever and T&T is the best in the series *runs away*

  • Is no-one wondering who the shadow at the end is? I gots to know!

    • bjwanlund

Me too!  Although, given the propensity this series has for crazy cameos, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was Edgeworth again.

      •  I did suspect Edgeworth, the hair’s kinda similar, albeit a little more raggedy. It would seem a waste not to put Edgey into a main series game as he wasn’t in GS4 and he’s had two GK games to himself, he’s a huge character so he really should be part of Nick’s return to the bench.

  • Lisa Fraulein

    That…was awesome……….. AweSOme!!!!!

  • Oh lord.  Here’s hoping Apollo wasn’t killed in the explosion.

Then again, at least he’d go out with a b-….

    No, not saying it!

Regardless, eagerly anticipating it, despite how this may sound.

    • Wagnaria

Oh god I hope not. 8<

  • s07195

    No Apollo at all?

  • Göran Isacson

So, the new helper comes wtih some sci-fi doodad that helps her read peoples emotions… wonder if she invented it because she’s a supergenius, or if it’s something that just about any attourney can use in the games timeframe. That aside I do hope the game doesn’t just sideline old favorites and manages to be a good mix of old and new, even if it is kinda weird to see Phoenix be the one grasping at straws again after how cool and collected he was in Apollo Justice.

Also, I wonder what new twists the emotion-reading system will bring out. Like I imagine the first couple of cases will have people wearing their hearts on their sleeves more or less, but could it be the case that the doodad can be fooled by a good enough actor? Could be an interesting twist…

    • bjwanlund

I think she’s an empath (think Counselor Troi on Star Trek: TNG), and the sci-fi doodad helps enhance her powers.  And BTW, Capcom’s recent GyakuSai/AA developments ALMOST make up for their lack of trying in other areas.

    • s07195

I thought Phoenix was only like that because he had 7 years to prepare his case.

      • Göran Isacson

Possibly, but even so the way he treated others and acted even outside the court felt very different from the Phoenix we saw in the old games. I dunno, I just think it feels like this Phoenix almost seems to ignore what happened in Apollo Justice…

I really hope this’ll actually have voices. Just doing lip flaps with text is terrible.

    • British_Otaku

It worked before on the GBA, it worked before on the DS, it’ll work again on the 3DS… >_>

It’s not that I expect poor voice work, it’s more than that the game and others have moved from sprites to polygons with minimal voice work to make moments and characters distinct.

The animations of the characters speak thousands of words. Of course, I would like both, perhaps a “classic mode” where it is just text for lil ol’ me. >_>

      • Manny Being Manny

That was just because the systems didn’t allow for it before. Now that you have really good looking 3D graphics, along with their lips moving, it just seems.. lifeless without voices. During the whole time in the video, I was more bothered by the lack of any voices than anything cool that was shown, since it just seemed so out of place. With the kind of graphics you have now, you need to go for a cinematic approach. Without voices, you can’t do that, and it leaves it as a low budget production that can’t be taken seriously in my eyes. It would be like making silent movies these days simply due to lack of faith in actors ability to speak.

        • British_Otaku

Very true, that the technology is now here, but I continue to enjoy Zelda which has also stuck to expressions and minimal voice work. I concede that this is much more tacky than Zelda as the game plans to pan, zoom, has TONS of dialogue and has 3D models with mouth flaps (which would be a barrier though doable to get past for the localisations – I’m not so sure if they will dub in any language but Japanese and English to be honest)…

Still as someone who enjoyed the prior games (Ace Attorney 1-4 and Ghost Trick), I’ll get pass this one having little voice work, even if by other games standards, 3D models means voice work and 3D models + lots of dialogue means full voice over.

I guess it is to each his own.
Found the slow 3D panning transition to be more conspicuous.

    • Karin Shita

I’m pretty sure it’ll be voice acted. The mouth movements are too precise and the timing is pretty slow. It would seriously drag the pacing. So, I’m pretty sure.

that shadow looks like the antagonist in case 1 ace attorney 2

  • What if Apollo returned as a prosecutor ? D: That will most likely not happen but, well, that would be a blast.
