The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave Demo And La-Mulana On Nintendo Downloads

By Ishaan . September 20, 2012 . 8:30am

This week’s Nintendo eShop highlight is a demo version of The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, an original RPG by Pokémon Colosseum developer, Genius Sonority. The full game will be out on September 27th for $9.99. You can read more about it here.

On the WiiWare side, La-Mulana has finally been released in North America, following numerous delays. The WiiWare version is published by EnjoyUp Games and costs 1,000 Wii Points ($10).

Finally, also on the Nintendo eShop for 3DS is a game called Rising Board 3D, and Nintendo also point out that the Pokédex 3D application will only be up until the end of the month, after which it’s going to be taken down and eventually replaced with Pokédex 3D Pro, which will be a paid app.

The Denpa Men demo seems to be missing from the shop. :(

The demo is up now but you have to use the search to find it.

  • I’ve been playing the hell out of the PC version of this La-Mulana remake and IT IS AMAZING. If anyone here wants a great, long, complex and addictive Metroidvania experience, I highly, highly recommend it.

      How’s the WW version compare?

      • I haven’t played it, but as far as I’m aware it’s 100% identical. The remake PC version was based on the remake WiiWare version (or vice versa).

YouTube footage I’ve seen seems to support that as well.

Well at the very least, the Wiiware version hopefully won’t have the bugginess that the PC version had for some players at first.

I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t played much of my copy, despite adoring the original and going as far as to consider it my favorite freeware title yet.

          • Really? I mean, I only bought the PC version recently (about 2 weeks ago), but so far, it’s been really smooth. Only once did any sort of bug occur, and it was pretty minor (I somehow jumped inside a solid block and got stuck in it — but the game teleported me back to the surface within a couple seconds, I assume as a built-in safeguard measure). Nothing weird happened to me before or since, and I haven’t been able to duplicate that bug even intentionally, so I assume it was just a crazy one-in-a-million fluke.

You should give the PC copy another go. It’s really outstanding, and from the comparison videos I’ve been seeing, it’s an improvement over the original in every way. I’d even say it’s in the running with Ys: The Oath in Felghana for best remake of all time, given how much polish it received.

There was also some issues with saving that some people had, including myself. I did enough to fix it, but then I stopped playing it. I’ll definitely keep it up with La Mulana though, it really is fantastic.

Found my first WW exclusive addition: it uses the speaker remote for emails! Nice touch.

      • OK, seems I was wrong. I looked into it, and the PC version is apparently superior to the WiiWare version — though they’re very close. The biggest change is that the PC version has a time attack mode added to it, but apparently the entrance to Hell Temple was also made accessible near the beginning (not sure how, nor why you’d ever WANT to go there near the beginning of the game).

For the most part, though, they’re identical. But if you really, really care about time attack or are a total sadist, I guess go for the PC version. ;)
