Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes To Feature Base Building And Development

By Ishaan . September 27, 2012 . 9:50am

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will feature the return of base-building and development, a feature that was present in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP, series creator, Hideo Kojima, revealed at the Eurogamer Expo.

“Furthermore, nowadays there are various ways to access the game world—you’re not just playing in your living room on your games console,” Kojima continued. “You may also access through your cell phone and other devices and still access that same game. I think in that respect that motherbase system lends itself very well to that system, and that’s something we’re planning on for Ground Zeroes.”

This likely means that the base-building aspect of Ground Zeroes will be accessible through smart phones and other such devices. Kojima shared that players will be able to access the base via helicopter in between missions. Once you’re there, you will be able to explore the base on foot.

As revealed last month, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes also has day-and-night cycles, as well as an open world to explore.

I hope I can Load up my Base from PW into Ground Zeros cause It took a Loooonnngg time to get it at its best,An I would hate to have to do it all again..With out a good reason

Given the sheer scope of the level maps and open worlds they’re going for, I’m excited to see the size of this base and just how detailed they’re going to get with it. It’d be awesome to just watch your personnel change and react to the day-night cycle and stuff.

Damn, I did not think I could be any more hyped for this. Then Kojima goes and announces this feature. TAKE MY MONEY!!! (throws money at computer screen)

Cool! We actually get to walk around it and not just look at an overhead rotating shot of it this time?

And can we sneak around in a box to mess with our soldiers??
    Test their awareness??

Sounds pretty nifty. I spent probably more time then I should have managing mother base, but the mobile option is quite appealing. And being able to explore the base sounds pretty cool too……. This game’s shaping up to be really good. Revengeance looks great too….. Now if only the movie will be good.

    i love you kojima.

  • awesome , awesome, argh….. Mr Kojima just take my money already , collector’s edition if needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • konsama

Just awesome, imagine if the game imported your PW data and made your MB start as the one you had in PW already.

Can Kojima make a bad game? Nope, don’t think so :P

    • Curan_Altea

It’s possible, but I’ve yet to see such dark days. I literally love every series he’s had a hand in (that I’ve played)

  • Solomon_Kano

I absolutely LOVE Peace Walker’s base building, so I like that Kojima is thinking of ways to expand that beyond your home console. If I can pull my phone out for a few seconds and send units on Outer Ops missions or start development on some weapon, that would be pretty fudging awesome.

I think getting to explore the base is even better though. Every time the base would expand in PW I would think “Man, it’d be cool to explore this” and apparently Kojima thought the same. I really can’t wait to play this. You just keep on upping the ante Kojima, I dunno how I’ll handle the wait for this to release.

Am I the only one who sensed Kojima will put a female member’s room walk-in joke with this?

And those soldiers I’ll recruit better do some funny easter-eggs for me to find in the base.

I love it! I love the idea of making my OUTER HAVEN! I hope they keep the gun upgrading system they had in peace walker because i love upgrading weapons!
