Muramasa: The Demon Blade Vita Screenshots Make Their Debut

By Ishaan . October 1, 2012 . 8:30am

As previously reported, Muramasa: The Demon Blade is getting a PlayStation Vita port. In addition to the content and characters that were playable in the Wii version of the game, the Vita version will have four new short scenarios featuring four new characters as well.

Marvelous sent out the first screenshots of Muramasa on the Vita today, and you can view them below. The game will be available on March 28th.

    Beautiful, excited for it!

  • Klaus00

just show the 4 new characters already D:<

  • XypherCode

    Hyped!! :D
But I guess Marvelous’ idea about the game benefiting for stereoscopic 3D of the 3DS is dumped. :( Maybe they thought an HD port would be better.
A bummer…but hey it’s Muramasa with added content! Can’t wait to get my hands on it :)

    More love for Muramasa.^_^

Looks just as beautiful as it did on Wii. If it was straight port I wouldn’t want it but the new characters and scenarios sold me.

  • SirRichard

As gorgeous as ever, but the real treat will be seeing it running on the OLED screen. I’d be surprised if a localisation happens, honestly, but it’d be nice.

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I don’t see why not. The Wii version came over and Vanillaware has quite a “few” fans overseas anyway. Now it’s to see exactly who will be the ones to bring it over and if the localization job will be improved from the last attempt.

      • SirRichard

Though, from what I hear Muramasa didn’t perform very well on its first go abroad, and the Vita’s even more limited in audience than the Wii. Maybe there’s more overlap in interested people and Vita owners, I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like anyone’d actually do it.

‘Course, I’m willing to eat my words if it is announced.

Actually, we bought far more copies of the game than Japan did. I did an article about this phenomena on my gaming website at http://xeawnsgamingcorner.com/2012/09/19/japanese-companies-and-the-lies-they-tell-you/

In Japan the year to to date new sales of Muramasa were recorded as 110,000, however in America we bought 290,000, more than double. It’s the same as Valhalla Knights, I don’t have figures for Battle Stance since PSN/SEN doesn’t release their sales figures, but even without knowing how much of that we bought, over the whole series America has 340,000 to Japan’s 240,000.

There’s really no excuse for us not to get Muramasa and Valhalla 3; we’ve historically bought more copies of both games than Japan, we tend to buy more digitally, so if I had the PSN/SEN numbers our Valhalla sales would likely be closer to 500,000 taking Battle Stance alone in to account.

I’ve never wanted a Vita this bad.

Send it to the PSN dammit!

  • Zonic505

I really wanna see a trailer so I can gaze upon how it looks compared to the Wii version.

Also, I REALLY hope they allow me to jump using X or one of the buttons rather than pressing Up on the D-Pad/Analog Stick.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Definitely looking forward to seeing this run in a better resolution (and maybe framerate) than the original. Gameplay trailer soon?

Oh, and before I forget, how/why did they choose to take the time and energy to port this to the Vita and not do the programming for the finished localization work for GKH? Trying to test their skills on the handheld before proceeding with DC? Or some other vague reason? It does seem weird to me…

Scrap this and get to work on Dragon Crown !

If it’s the reason why Grand knight history didn’t make it in the us / europe i’m gonna be really mad…
    [/troll]

It looks great but i’m waiting for a trailer before even thinking about buying it (oh and more info on additional content). But screeens look kinda great (mostly due to a better lightning and antialiasing).

  • Red Veron

    Looks hot. Want it.

Wasn’t being able to play Vita games on the PS3 one of their major selling points? Did this turn out to be false?

  • http://ggftw.com/forum/ Monkey_T

I have no doubt this game will look glorious on an actual Vita.

  • Jirin

The art looks a lot like Odin Sphere, is there creative staff in common?

    • Neophoton

They’re both developed by Vanilla Ware.

  • http://www.twitch.tv/jpnags Jason Naglic

    Looks great!

  • AlexanderPappas

    Sweet now I’m on board

  • Neophoton

While I could just import this, it’s cheaper to buy a localized version. So… I’ll just cross my fingers and hope Atlus or XSeed takes over this instead of Ignition.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

Ignition got out of the whole localization thing so it won’t be them.

      • Neophoton

Seriously? I feel relieved. While we’re on the subject of localizing, what do you think the odds are that Muramasa Vita will get picked up for localization?

        • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

          100%

          • Neophoton

             I’m liking those odds.

  • PoweredByHentai

    Hey @Ishaan:disqus !

Any idea if the Vita version is going to cross the pond?

  • sherimae1324

    i love u, oboro muramasa ^_^

  • Go2hell66

    best looking game evar

  • neetyneety

This looks like it was made by the guys behind Odin Sphere, or maybe it’s just the beautiful 2D art that makes me say that.

    • XiaomuArisu

       Its the same group.VanillaWare.
      The make beautiful games.
