Nippon Ichi Software Opening A New Studio In Osaka [Update]

By Ishaan . October 1, 2012 . 9:30am

Nippon Ichi Software have established a new studio in Osaka in addition to their existing headquarters in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture, the company has announced.

The new studio will open on October 1st (tomorrow), and NIS say that an effort to secure a large amount of human resources, including mid-career recruitment, is planned for the new studio.

Additionally, NIS’ announcement indicates that the Osaka studio will get to work on its own independent projects, in addition to collaborations with their main headquarters.

Yay!  Great news for Nippon Ichi, they’re expanding, its well deserved, as the company puts out nothing but quality titles!

  • Yes! Maybe I should travel over there and show them the horrible, horrible things I did after platinumming Disgaea 3 Vita xD

That pic reminded me that there was no Marjoly in Disgaea 4…

      • I need her “+100% magic offense”, I NEED IT!

        She’s so damn good, lol

        • Punny Fuzz

Emizel actually has the exact same evilty …only it’s 50%….

needless to say I don’t use him very much, but to each his/her own I guess.

          • That’s perfect! I’ll magichange Marjoly to the other shota then ^^

I need them both together, maybe throw Gig in for kicks.

    • P-Platinumed D3 Vita… wow…. I have a long ways to go for that.

      • I believe in you! ^^

        • B-but my father destroyed my game. Now I must defeat him! lolz xD No but I will platinum it eventually.

I remember a few years back when NIS were hurting badly, and they were just showing off Disgaea 4 for the first time. Quite different from today, where they’ve gotten big enough to open a second studio! Can’t wait to see what comes out of this new one, myself.

    • Long live NIS! :D

    • Göran Isacson

That is kind of impressive. I wonder what they did/sold to get well enough to expand… have they released anything particular besides Disgaea 4 lately, I can’t say anything comes to mind.

Disgaea 4 did very well for itself and has had a metric ton of DLC going as well, Disgaea 3 got its PSV release, and they released a few PSP titles like Makai Kingdom Portable and that Blue Roses game and some 3DS sticker game or something. From what I can tell, it’s mostly been D4 DLC and given its strong sales I wouldn’t be surprised if that DLC was making them a fair mint.

On top of that, their American branch has been going rather strongly especially as of late, localising stuff for their partners Compile Heart and Idea Factory (both of whom have also been enjoying healthy business) and also others like Imageepoch and Gust. And then there’s the ClaDun devs, whose stuff they publish and has been doing well enough to continue being made.

    Long live NIS! o

… I just hope they put some more 3D programmers there

So what’s gonna be the focus of this new studio? Are they gonna be a dedicated social group? A dedicated mid-scale group? What’s the goal of this new studio?

  • I love this. The more NIS we have, the better. I’m glad they’re doing well enough to warrant something like this!

  • TheRealMalek

Not sure if it’s a good news, huge company tends to forget what their fanbase is…

  • Demeanor

    I want to join! XD

  • doubletaco

    I smell social games.

  • ivanchu77

If they are opening a new studio it means that things are going well for them, i´m glad ^_^

  • Learii

  • Bruno Diaz

  • Kitestwinblades

Heh, NIS Opening a new studio in October? That’s just like them.
Those guys always shine this time of the year. Especially with games XD

They should put up a flag with their logo or engrave it in stone. Maybe a Prinny or two in the lobby. That sure would make my work day if I was an employee :3
