Nintendo 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro Coming On November 15

imageMonster Hunter 3 Ultimate looks great on a Nintendo 3DS XL. The larger screen enhances the 3D effect, but without a second analog stick you can’t use the claw.

The Circle Pad Pro was made with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in mind and soon you can get one for your 3DS XL. Nintendo will start selling the accessory in Japan on November 15. Just like the standard Circle Pad Pro, the XL version will cost 1,500 yen($19).

    Ultra lol

  • Pythia Brixham

Uh huh… Now can nintendo make the Circle Pad Pro a little less ugly and a little more usefule like this thing?

    • Dyne

got the name for that and know if they sell it in eu?

    • Godman

Man that’s nice, wonder if it acts like a extra battery pack too?

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

I want that? what is it?

    • LittleMofreaky

You’re saying that’s NOT ugly? What are you on?

      • Kefkiroth

This fills up the space to the right of the screen, so at least it doesn’t stick out awkwardly like Nintendo’s does.

        • Xerain

But does it have ergonomic grips on the bottom like the circle pad XL is rumored to have?

          • Kefkiroth

I’m pretty sure this Nyko one is for the original 3DS… plus I’d be fine without ergonomic grips; switching from holding the 3DS without the ergonomic grips to the Vita (which has them) isn’t a big deal.

          • Xerain

I think it’s a pretty safe assumption that if you’re getting a circle pad pro, you’re going to be playing Monster Hunter. From my experience with MH on the PSP, I suffered quite a few hand cramps. These hand cramps did not result from using the claw grip, but rather from my PSP slim being so darn slim.

Assuming Nyko makes a 3DS XL version of their clam shell circle pad, if they were to add grips to the bottom… it woudl kind of ruin the premise. That is to say, I’m highly doubtful they’d do it. Therefore I’d be going for the Nintendo Circle pad, because when it comes to lots of Monster hunter playing, functionality is going to beat aesthetics any day.

          • Kefkiroth

@Xerain:disqus That’s definitely true (functionality > aesthetics), but I was just giving my opinion to @LittleMofreaky:disqus who said it was ugly.

“but without a second analog stick you can’t use the claw.”
What the HELL, Siliconera? What does the second analog have to do with clawing? Not to mention that 3U has awesome TS controls and the Target Camera feature. The CCP is basically only useful when hunting underwater.

    • Peace Legacy

uh… the second analog stick have everything to do with clawing
Clawing is when you use your index finger to control the upper buttons, while using the thumb to control the analog stick
Without the analog stick, claw control is impossible, simple as that
Claw control isn’t limited to just left hand, but it can be use for right hand control as well

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    HEY ITS A GAMEGEAR…..oh wait…

  •  Monster size

  • konsama

As long they don’t make ridiculously small amounts of them like they did with the other one it should be fine.

  • Shadowman

So when it coming to the U.S?

    • Aoshi00

hopefully soon.. wonder if it’s a Gamestop exclusive again..

    • LustEnvy

If they don’t announce it soon, I may import it. Sad that we even have to spend $20 for something that should’ve been on the system to begin with, but alas, it’s a necessity for me.

      • Shadowman

I know it Nintendo fault for not making with an extra circle pad but we still like our 3DS though right.

      • Aoshi00

Yeah, it may not be aesthetically pleasing, but at least we have an option and it gets the job done :)  The way I see it they always make us buy extra things, like PS3 Slim can’t stand vertically on its own.. and the PS Vita’s charger cable comes in 2 parts, charger & USB cable separately *.*;…

I would definitely get this to play RE Revelations.

It’s too bad they’re so stubborn to not include it on the XL, Vita feels so liberating w/ 2 analogs (compared to the PSP).. maybe next time..

  • LittleMofreaky

I probably won’t use it much, but I might as well own both versions since I own both 3DS’s.

  • Michael Revis

You’d think that with the larger size of the 3DS XL, the second nub would be standard…

    • There was a lot of anger over that when it was first shown. They just felt like being… weird (>_>)…

  • I think the next 3DS going have the circle pad built in with the same freaking colors.
