Initial D was like one of the few Anime where I actually learned something.

Though I still find it hard to believe a naturally aspirated Toyota Corolla is beating a Nissan Skyline in a mountainside race lol

I can see a 86 beating a R32 on a downhill. Uphill though and yeah it’s not even a match.

Best race for me is towards the end of season 4 where Keisuke goes up against the god-foot’s r34. That race was so epic!

    • Rolling Guy

Have you seen Hot Version with Keiichi beating an R34 with his Trueno?

I love Initial D and i love M.O.V.E but i know i’ll never be able to play this. :/

At least Initial D: Fifth Stage is just around the corner.

  • Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s my crack right there! I need this in my veins!

  • aoihana

I was looking forward to the opening, and it didn’t disappoint. I love m.o.v.e, and I’ve actually been hunting some of the Super Eurobeat albums! Wasn’t there a tag system in Stage 7, or was that the previous one? I might be mistaking, but I recall something similar. I always wondered how that would work, exactly. (`_´)ゞ

I thought it would be something like time attacks, where you select two cars and switch out of the cockpit with your partner. That would be awesome. (^v^)

Anyway, I love how all these openings are so cinematic, but I particularly like how this one recalls the battles. Pretty awesome! It’s just really nostalgic, making me remember one of my favorite battles: 3rd Stage, Takumi vs Kai in Irohazaka. That jump still gives me goosebumps! Another is in 4th Stage, when Takumi is overtaken by Bunta, and he loses confidence in his AE86. Man, I hope we see a console or portable release soon! (*≧m≦*)

Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA introduced the tag system, where both you and a friend race against another team, where one person races uphill and the other downhill at the same time. How it works, from what I’ve read (We have machines here in Melbourne, but no tag feature) is that you earn points as you race and the team that finishes with the most points wins the battle. From what I’ve read, Initial D Arcade Stage 7 AAX expands on this, where there are tag battles in the Legend of the Streets mode

Oh! That’s how it works. It’s even better than I thought! Having one of you race downhill or uphill sounds amazing! It’s interesting how it works on points, though. I think it’d be best if the winner(s) were determined by time, because I think points would be a bit unreliable, since they’re determined by the game(subjective). It would be best to score by something more definitive, I think. We all have different styles, you know?

Anyway, tag battles in Legend of the Streets sounds like amazing fun! Beating it with a friend sounds great! Thanks for clarifying! (◕‿◕✿)

You won’t actually see the your team mate and his/her rival going up/down while you race though.

Anyway, the tag system works like this, there are silver ‘gates’ on the correct line of the course at different sections while there are gold ‘gates’ that will pretty much ruin your line.Silver gets you 1 point while gold gets you 2 points. If you and your partner both get silver, you get 4 points while if you both get gold you’ll get 6 points. If you and your partner get the last gold ‘gate’ at the finish line, you’ll get 12 points.

Basically, you’ll have to be strategic about it since the boost is ridiculous and the gold will mess up your line. I’ve beaten stronger cars in tag mode that I wouldn’t have been able to beat in a 1 on 1 match.

Online battles are the best experience but since Philippines have no online support.. Well, we just live by local tag.

          • aoihana

Ah, I understand how it works now. I thought points were awarded based on style or line, and whether it was a perfect run. That’s why I thought it would be subjective. So, it’s more of a strategic system, then.

Basically, silver gates net you just one point, but they’re on the correct line, so they’re ideal for your run. Gold gates net you two points, but they’re on the wrong line, so they can compromise your run. It is rather strategic. Interesting! Thanks for explaining how the system works! (◕‿◕✿)

A shame that Online isn’t supported in the Philippines, but yeah, at least you can local tag!

    lol awesome

  • Rolling Guy

There’s a new track. Team Spiral’s home course. Probably Hakone/Nanamagari. Probably where Hojo and Ryosuke battled as well.

EDIT: The AE86 coupe IS there. The last scene with Takumi’s Trueno.

The new 86 GT is there. Not sure about the BRZ but it’s the exact same thing.

There’s a new ‘boost’ function in tag mode. Kinda like an overboost system or NOS. The rubber band boost have probably been decreased and this is what will compensate for it.

Still no internet for the Philippines and this is coming out already. No wonder Maximum Tune 4 is taking it’s time on releasing here.. :|
