Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion Will Be Both A Retail And eShop Title

Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion will be released as both a retail title and a Nintendo eShop download title at launch in North America, Disney announced at an Epic Mickey event held at Disneyland this week.

Provided no other 3DS third-party game does this prior to Power of Illusion’s release, it would make it the first third-party Nintendo 3DS game that sees a launch at both retail and eShop

Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion will be released on November 18th in North America. Nintendo have confirmed that Disney will also be releasing a free demo of the game via the eShop at some point in the future.

  • As long as they cost the same as retail, I see no reason to buy them

    •  Well, there’s the convenience of being able to purchase and download the game at any time from any place. There’s also the convenience of not having to carry around the actual carts of the games. Having all of your retail games just as readily available as your eShop or VC games could be pretty nice, actually. While it would be really awesome if the prices were drastically different, doing so would undermine their retail sales, which I don’t think they would want to do.

I still tend to get my games at retail, but I can see this being a good option for others.

As i am retail guy here, i am going to get the game retail there however, it is always nice having option there for people who is staying to far or needs to pay too much for the same game here.^_^

A demo?  Perfect!  I love 2D side scrolling platformers as a general rule, but I never played Castle of Illusion so I’m a tad leery about jumping in and paying full price for a sequel to a game I never played.  A game more than a decade old, at that.

  • 2D + platform = Magic.

So downloading that demo when it drops- this game looks like every beautiful childhood memory I have of World of Illusion and Disney’s Magical Quest combined into one sweet, sweet smackerel of a game, and if it plays as good as it looks it WILL be mine.

  • I’m definitely looking forward to this, I miss the Illusion series a whole lot, should bring me back some great memories :)

I think I misread yesterdays post and rushed to the eShop to find nothing, I’ll be looking forward to the demo.
