The Xbox 360 version of the game will be released via Xbox Live Arcade on October 24th for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

The Xbox 360 version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus features online play with both ranked and unranked matches. The game will also later be updated with a balance patch based on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R from arcades. You can take a look at that game here.

Aww yeah. I wonder if different announcers are available.

    • Hell yeah, we definitely need the manly announcer from GGXX. The one in XXAC just doesn’t cut it.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

That’s what I kind of wanted haha

  • Cephrien

Jesus god, I thought this was already confirmed for Western release.

I hope the PSN version will also be released on the same date…

  • Shane Guidaboni

PSN release date? I need this game!

  • AJ

I think it’s pretty obvious that this game is coming to PSN.  What this game needs right now are constant updates and to keep people informed.  Not to sound like that guy, but it’s better than reporting on teases of teases.  This isn’t exclusive to this site though, this is everywhere.

  • Didn’t this game already come out in North America on the PS2, PSP, and Wii? I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time it has come to the west.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

yeah, but this version will have online and a balance patch  based on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R from the arcades. (basically I’m paraphrasing last paragraph haha)

    • I’ll start by saying I know this comment probably doesn’t apply to the majority of gamers here on siliconera.

This release is actually a godsend for fighting game fans, especially those in the competitive scene. To even have the option of playing Guilty Gear at any high level play, you currently have to lug around a CRT just to play it on. For whatever reason (either due to the source Naomi board, or just something particular here) GGXX does not survive the scaling process well at all. Plugging in a PS2 to an HD TV gives you a game with input lag far too severe to perform any combos or the like.
By having a version natively running on 360/PS3, you’re allowing people to play ^Core with extreme ease at any “fighter event”, using readily available HD TVs and the now plentiful USB powered arcade sticks. Sure there are a bunch of versions already out, but technology has left them far behind with regards to playing the game as it’s meant to be played.

Oh, and netplay. I guess some people are crazy for that option. ;P

i’m not familiar with this issue – PS2 to HDTV has lag but the PS3 version won’t?

        • To sum it up, correct.

Practically all HDTVs out there display at a minimum of 720p. (So 1280 x 720 resolution) The PS2 outputs at a 480p signal, at absolute highest. (When progressive scan is enabled in game. Without progressive scan you’re looking at 480i, which is only about 240-252 true rows of vertical resolution.) An HD TV hooked up to a PS2 isn’t running the PS2’s native resolution. Instead it upscales the incoming signal to 720. Every single frame has to go through a scaling operation on the TV’s part which takes a fair bit of time (relatively speaking) to perform. As a result, you have a pretty significant amount of lag generated between the PS2 outputting the new image, and the TV displaying it. You can get external scaler boxes that are designed to minimize this lag, but it’s still very noticable unless you’re using an X-RGB or something similar. ($400-500 minimum on ebay)

Meanwhile, this new version for XBLA and PS3 will be natively outputting at 720/1080. As a result, no upscaling needs to be done, and thus none of the earlier mentioned lag is introduced.

No way in hell i’m buying this on the Xbox, i’ll wait for the PSN version if I have to…

Since they’re announcing the release date this late, it just sounds like ArcSys is just announcing their finalized release dates as they get them from Sony and Microsoft.  Downloadable titles never have finalized release dates until maybe 2 weeks before they get released.  Sony probably just hasn’t given ArcSys a finalized date for the NA PSN release.

  • Can’t wait when it comes to Europe :D — on the PSN!

  • Nemesis_Dawn

For any PS3 owners panicking here, this is Major Nelson on the Microsoft blog. Do you really expect him to announce anything about the PSN on there? Chances are it’s coming the same day for the PSN too. Just wait for the Playstation Blog update and they’re probably say the same thing, but for PS3.
