Sonic Jump Focuses On Jumping High Rather Than Dashing Fast

By Ishaan . October 20, 2012 . 1:30pm

This week, Sega released Sonic Jump, the first ever Sonic game developed specifically for mobile platforms. As the title suggests, the game has a focus on jumping up through levels, rather than dashing through them. Take a look at this in the trailer below:

Sonic Jump is available on iOS devices for $1.99, AUD$1.99, £1.49, or €1.59.

    This actually looks..fun?

Amazing how trying something different instead of peddling to fans produces something that looks fun. I mean, really, HOW DARE THEY IGNORE OLD SONIC FANS. AFTER ALL THE MONEY THEY’VE SPENT. SEGA YOU ARE DEAD FOR THE TWENTIETH TIME oh god I’ll buy this so hard.

Lol, thank you for that comment.

I really enjoyed the first two Sonic Jump games on mobiles. Except that the last stage of the second game was near impossible for me. But I enjoyed it. This looks a lot better than those two. Too bad I don’t have the required device to play it. :(

My favorite stage was the one with the clouds.

Sonic jumping? But… but that’s MARIO’S thing! Sonic can’t do Mario’s thing! It will unlock the seventh seal and release electronic armageddon! Someone stop this lunacy! WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREEEEN?!

Seriously though- there are several other games out there with this particular concept, isn’t it? COuld’ve sworn that this whole “vertical platforming” thing is a pretty well-mined genre on the ios-format.

Apparently it’s coming later to Android too.

…aparently is just a better version of the old Sonic Jump java games. They’re both fun and time-killers, just want to try the iOS version to see if there is any improvement (besides the graphics, of course…8D)…

      Sonic Jump was really fun!

This is laughably better than Sonic Unleashed, then.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Hey Unleashed was great…well, the music and the daytime stages were great at least.

  • Barrylocke89

For 1.99, I could see myself getting it.

I spent so much time on the old Sonic Jump game on my old Sony Ericsson… it’s really fun, I mean it. It’s also easy to get addicted to trying to get all 7 emeralds.
You can just go and play a level when you have time or while on the go. It’s a very good investment. (Though I got my game from someone else sending it to me :S)

  • PreyMantis

Reminds me of that tower jumping game on every damn computer at school. I hope next time they create a sequel, they should call it ‘Super Sonic Bros.’ with Sonic’s long lost brother… or just Tails. XD

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The previous Sonic Jump has always been a very addicting game there. This one surely is going to be as addictive as the old one there.^_^

    Sega consider this game sold.^_^
