Assassin’s Creed Movie To Star Michael Fassbender

By Ishaan . October 22, 2012 . 8:05am

Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and television division of Ubisoft, will develop the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie in collaboration with the New Regency production company, Ubisoft announced today.

The partnership, Ubisoft say, will allow them to maintain creative control of the movie and the development of a screenplay will be beginning immediately. Attached to the film is actor, Michael Fassbender, but just what role he will be taking on has not been specified.

“Bringing aboard New Regency’s renowned production and distribution expertise while maintaining our own creative and financial flexibility ensures that Assassin’s Creed will be a high-quality film that respects the lore and fans of the video game franchise,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures.

Ubisoft’s Motion Pictures division was created at the start of 2011, with the intent of expanding the company’s franchises into other forms of media such as film and television. Presumably, we’ll see more Ubisoft games make the move from games to movies in the future.

Lol.. Lets hope its nothing like Prince of Persia ..

    • ShinoZero

Well I enjoyed the Prince of Persia movie as entertainment. I’m not really fan of the games (only played the first one -which was great- and from what I understand the movie was based on that one, at least it respected some of the basics with the sand concept and the dagger) but I think it was correct and actually one of the best game adaptations so far…

    • isfuturebright

I like the games and I thought the movie was “good” enough.

So you don’t want it to be like a good movie?

      •  prince of persia was good, but not that good towards PoPSands fans

      • enorka miho

to be honest..its not that good…

  • XiaomuArisu

    Wait…you mean Magneto?

  • kylehyde

Hooray for Magneto. Now I need to know who is or are going to be the script writters.

  • burnfist23

I kinda hope this isn’t an adaptation but rather either expands the story of one of the previous Assassins (Like Lineage, Embers, or the Secret Crusade) or follows another Assassin in another time period (Since they don’t plan on doing a game for WWII or Feudal Japan, a movie could still work)

The idea of Michael Fassbender being in the movie gets me excited, but I’d like to see a trailer first.

I’m only hoping for the composer of ACI and ACII to compose the music for this movie. I’m a new fan of the AC games, but the thing that I instantly loved was the music (especially in ACII). Hopefully Ubisoft will hire the same composer instead of giving it to the new one who’s making ACIII’s music.

    • sad thing is that jasper kyd isn’t doing AC music anymore, and he’s not doing AC3’s either

. . . how are they going to do the whole “missing finger” part . . . ?

    • MidouBahn

      Movie magic…

    • Zal_Yagun

If a movie studio can pull off putting Chris Evans’ head on a scrawny guy’s body, another could probably phase out a finger..

    • Evan Groman

      Are you being serious?

You could just put a friggin green band around it. Seriously, that is the least of their concern when it comes to creating this film…

  • Adam Sandler has to play Desmond.

    • Darkrise

I think Jim Carrey would be the most fitting.

      • Hidayat246

        jim carey??? NO O0O !!!!!!!!!!!

    • rebecasunao

      I hope you’re joking…

  • ZBaksh386

I think it would be best not to repeat the games and just create your own assassin and set it in a different time period rather than recreating the games since there allot of maneuverability with Assassins creed.

  • Aoshi00

The actor pick sounds good.. I loved Michael Fassbender as the young Magneto and David in Prometheus, and his last name sounds cool :)  Looking forward to this.  I only finished AC 1 & 2 though and only played a little Brotherhood, and not Revelations yet, wonder if it’s OK to jump straight to AC3 w/o the other 2 games..
