Joe Madureira, co-founder of Darksiders studio, Vigil Games, is parting ways with the company he helped create, he has announced via his Facebook page.

“I’m afraid the time has come for me to move on to new adventures,” Madureira shares via Facebook. “I could not be more proud of what we achieved, or the awesome people who helped build up this studio. I can safely say Vigil’s future is in very good hands, so expect only awesomeness down the road.”

Madureira was the creative director of the Darksiders games at Vigil. Prior to his role at the studio, Madureira worked on a very wide range of titles for Marvel Comics, including Uncanny X-Men.

“I’ll be talking more about ‘The Next Big Thing’ in the coming months, but in the short term, I’m focusing on banging out a bunch of comics,” Madureira says with regard to his future plans.

In the meantime, Vigil are preparing Darksiders II for a Wii U release this November. No future games have been announced by the studio yet.
