By Ishaan . October 23, 2012 . 6:27pm

As reported last month, NIS America are bringing Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection (known as Generation of Chaos 6 in Japan) to North America and Europe as a downloadable title on the PSP. Today, they released a first trailer for the game, which you can watch below:

Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection has a real-time strategy battle system, where you get to move and position your units on the battlefield and take over locations. The game is slated for a February 19th and 20th release in North America and Europe respectively.

I’m guessing it’ll be around $25-30? Don’t know much about the gameplay itself but Sting has me interested.

Looks like February is quickly becoming “That” month again. Better start saving now

    • Kibbitz

Just to check, what else is out for February?

  • ALfromHELLSING

That’s great. Now can someone please bring Eternal Punishment here? Seriously, Atlus, NISA, Sony. Anyone.

  • Muffum

Both this and Metal Gear Rising. Well, happy birthday to me, I suppose.

  • Alex Cattaneo

Why download only? why not make us chose from retail and download? :( wel a not buy for me then.

    • Akimitsu

Because it would be a financial disaster to release such a niche title as retail outside of Japan. A small company like NIS America can probably make a lot more, without having to worry about costs related to a retail release.

    • Ereek

Because physical PSP titles, for the most part, will not receive enough sales in the west to justify the additional cost of a physical release, especially from a small company.

    • Ladius

I think we should be reasonable: niche Japanese games on PSP can only be localized on PSN at this point, unless you’re Atlus USA (or Aksys, apparently) and can leverage retailers into stocking your games, presumably in extremely small numbers.

I like to have physical copies as much as you do, but if I have to choose between an English digital release and no release at all I know where I stand.

    • Tianyu Wei

because they want it to be VITA compatible and cut cost at the same time. I am pretty sure moving forward, most PSP games will be Download only.

Pretty sure SONY wants to phase out UMD production at this point.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

STING alone sell me this game lol.^_^ Not to mention i am a fan for Generation of Chaos series.

Even though DL only is kinda bumped, well beggars can’t be chooser.^_^

Hell yes! I’ve been looking forward to this game since I first laid my eyes on it! So glad I have the release date.

  • Peeka Chu

The battle systems look bland as dust (YouTube if you want a more in-depth look).  Two of the things that I loved about this series, were its insane micro-management requirements and the absurd sprite-swarm battles.  Now this plays like a portrait based rhythm game.

Not interested.  I would have preferred any non-localized JRPG/ SRPG to this.  But with the recent uptake on digital PSP titles, who knows?

    • Ladius

Yeah, it’s a shame even Idea Factory has stopped working on grand strategy jrpgs, having an English version of Spectral Force Legacy could have been a decent send off but apparently we’re out of luck.

  • Ladius

I would have liked this series to stay true to its grand strategy roots, but I will try to keep an open mind to see if this new battle system is interesting in its own right.

  • Demeanor

Feb 19th is my birthday lol XD
