Nintendo released worldwide sales figures for New Super Mario Bros. 2 today, as part of their earnings report for the first half of the ongoing fiscal year. To date, the Nintendo 3DS platformer has sold 3.25 million copies.

That figure takes download sales into account as well, Nintendo report. Japan accounts for 1.31 million of the total figure, while the overseas market accounts for 1.95 million copies.

Additionally, Nintendo also provided sales for Pokémon Black/White 2. That game has sold 4.26 million copies world. Since the game has been out longer in Japan, it has sold 2.84 million copies in that region thus far, while overseas sales are at 1.42 million copies.

While the figures is not “WOW”, it is also not bad here considering that this Mario is released on 3DS which worldwide currently only sell around 6 mil. Getting half of them is not shabby at all. Not to mention Mario games usually keep selling through years so i can see in future that Mario will keep selling.^_^

For Pokemon…… i would said this is proabably one of the most profitable pokemon lol considering that they reuse many of the previous B/W assets but it still sell this well.

Now we only need to wait for Pokemon for 3DS.^_^

    • 3DS sales worldwide are 22 million! Japan alone is close to 7 million.

Lol. I read Japans sells as worldwide here.T_T

Well, if this is the case, i would said NSMB2 is surely underperformed here.

        • It is doing fine. Of cos it can’t do NSMB1 numbers, but 10+ millions – easilly with holiday coming etc. It’s the type of the game that’ll selling till the console going to live.

  • Other important facts from the nintendo direct regarding the 3ds I thought were important

“he Nintendo 3DS system currently has stronger momentum than during the same period last year after the price markdown, though we are not satisfied with it.”

“the Nintendo 3DS system gained more market share in not only the Japanese market, where it had already been in good shape anyway, but also in the U.S. and European markets, and the environment surrounding the Nintendo 3DS system did indeed improve this summer.

Also, I know that many people think our Nintendo 3DS business is not doing as well as our Nintendo DS business did because we performed a markdown within less than six months of its launch, but I would like to draw your attention to the following.”

  • NSMB2 isn’t worth the gold it’s made of.
