Fire Emblem: Awakening English Trailer Is Finally Here

By Ishaan . October 25, 2012 . 7:36am

Nintendo of America confirmed once again this morning that the new Fire Emblem for Nintendo 3DS is headed to North America. In the U.S., the game will retain the title that everyone has been referring to it by—Fire Emblem: Awakening.

NOA showed off English footage from the game during their Nintendo Direct presentation (watch it above), and we took a few screencaps from their trailer that you can check out below.

Nintendo of America also confirmed that the downloadable content packs that have been released for Fire Emblem: Awakening in Japan will be released in North America as well. The game will be released in “the first part” of 2013.

Yay! Be sure not to miss out people! I want to buy the US copy as well to compare translations and accuracy, but I wonder how much all that DLC will cost XD…

    • Curan_Altea

I’ll buy any and all DLC for this game. Literally my favorite series.

      • Characters are 250 yen maps are like 450 yen

Infinite grinding maps provide are awesome

  • So glad to have Nintendo actually discussing this game (no matter how brief). The trailer was awesome and it really builds my excitement for the release of the game next year. I cannot wait!

  • IshimaruKaito

2013 is not coming fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SolidusSnake

Neat! I didn’t know this was getting localized.

  • Should have been a december release, along with Luigi’s mansion. 1 niche and 1 High profile release for the holidays would have made my christmas.

  • KingGunblader

I was happy to see this in lieu of any new 3DS announcements. So far, this is looking to be the most interesting 3DS game of 2013.

  • Brimfyre

This coming here fills me with a fraction of the same type of joy that I would feel if Valkyria Chronicles 3 got localized.

    I hope this does well.

  • isfuturebright

    Ok so If I can’t get a Wii-U I’ll buy a 3DS just for this!

  • AuraGuyChris

~ And there was much rejoicing ~

    • … Can I haz Cobalt Blue 3DS Bundle nao? Donteh leaveth meh a hangeth NOA!?

And right after I managed to calm my hype down, this just resparked my desire X)

  • MrTyrant

Im a happy 3ds owner and this game is one of the reasons:

  • Ladius

My hype level is currenly skyrocketing, please excuse my inability to post a reasonable message.

  • MrJechgo

Looks great, and I hope the DLC characters and scenarios will be available too ^^

  • riceisnice

    It’s Reyn time.

  • YoshEE

I wish they could have told the release date so I can pre order as soon as possible >.< And it is pretty cool we can get the same downloadable content pack.

  • SirRichard

The 3DS is turning itself right around these coming months, for sure. Took them a while, but hopefully Nintendo’s support for it will get those sales going.

I know they certainly made the jump to XL easy to make, at least.

  • raymk

Can’t hear the english voices :(. I”m still hyped though I can’t wait for next year.

  • puchinri

    Wahoo! That was lovely. I am so excited. ;u;
2013 is going to be another magnificent year. ♥

  • I love that its coming here, but the proportion during the attack sequences of the characters feels odd… could be just me… I don’t like :/ But I am going to love it when it gets released.

  • Ahhhh i’m dying here…I want this game so bad but its going be a long while and i need my FE fix…guess i’ll replay Sacred Stones

  • TruSpindash

I’m really looking to finally being able to play a new Fire Emblem.

  • Were are also getting a PAL release of this game in Europe, aren´t we? Fire Emblem was one of the main reasons that made me decide about buying a 3DS.

  • SetzerGabbiani

This is relevant to my interests.

  • Hmm, I wonder why NoE didn’t show this one off in their latest Nintendo Direct presentation. Still, I’m super hyped for this :D

  • .

    I want this so bad…

  • Eilanzer

japanese audio option?! anyone know?! o.o

    • Hraesvelgr

99% chance no. It doesn’t matter anyway, this game doesn’t have significant voice acting.

  • Tom_Phoenix

No regional bonus for the long wait? Awwww… =(

  • thundergodCN

    So beautiful

  • MrJechgo

I might buy that game, as my first FE game… but there are things that I’ll need to get around:
    – If characters don’t attack, they don’t get EXP, then they don’t get levels, then they can get one-shot from being underleveled. I really hope that I can replay missions to grind some characters a bit some I can keep them on par with other characters.

    – If characters die, they don’t come back. I’m okay with the concept, although I do hope that there’s no auto-saving option when that happens, because I’d like to abort the mission and start over with all characters available (before they die). Hey, if a unit dies, I’d like to reset the game, retry the mission so I can keep him or her alive, especially if I would like to finish the game without getting a single unit killed. Then again, I could hope for a mage that can turn back time for a turn if that happens.

    Maybe you can answer these:
    – Can you replay missions in order to level up units ?
    – Can you abort a mission if a character die so you can try again and keep him or her alive ?

       Okay lets see….

The game has a world map with extra encounters you can play for more xp.
Plus any DLC levels you buy.

While I myself have not watched any gameplay except from trailers, if it’s anything like previous games you can just restart the chapter if someone dies.

    • Kevin Tan

      1) In the World Map, you can fight encounters with armies of other Tacticians of varying strengths (SpotPass’d Tacticians I believe) or you can find the undead that spawn at various points on the map (seems that the strength of the undead horde depends on the story event that happend at that location, so newer locations will have harder undead).  Often these battles will drop gold, though it’s a small amount in Hard Mode (the mode I’m playing on)  Sometimes, you get exp randomly by flashing squares in battle or via a random event in Everybody’s Room.

      2) If a unit dies in battle, you can restart the chapter and try again.  I’ve done this many times on Hard Mode X_X  Alternatively, you can turn off perma-death when you start the New Game, but that’s not playing traditionally :p

This game provides lots of options for newcomers, but it’s probably the hardest on Hard Mode I’ve ever played, so there will definitely be challenge if you’re looking for it. :o

EDIT: And yes, like Ben says, you can also get exp from DLC levels you purchased.

      • fayt255

This whole World Map and undead battles spawning reminds me of Sacred Stones.

    • Tommy Lee

I don’t think there’s permanent auto-saving. Maybe an auto-temp save since it’s on a portable, but you can reset the game back to the point before you start the mission. I think if you are wary about permadeath though, you should try playing it in casual mode, even if you are fine with the concept.

      • Kevin Tan

There’s no permanent auto-save, but there is Quick Save which allows the player to make a temp-save.  It goes away after you load it.

In Casual mode, I believe you can save anytime during the battle (permanently in a slot), but I’ve never tried it, because I’m playing on Classic Mode

    • brian yep

I’ve heard that FE is uber-difficult, so choosing to play something like casual mode would probably be wise.

  • evilmoogle

    Now i have a reason to buy a 3ds.

  • Ben Sylvia

  • Göran Isacson

Oooh, that is some nice segueing (sp?) into the theme they did there. Now if I remember things the correct way… there’s one dude in this game that’s the chosen of the protector dragon, one dude that’s the chosen of the destroyer dragon (mister mask man there I think?) AND THEN there’s the PC that you can customize yourself and which also plays an important part in the storyline?

  • AlexanderPappas

I looooove fire emblem. This isn’t gonna leave my 3ds for awhile when this game comes out!

  • Blesmi

Oh hey look, NoA finally remembered they’re supposed to be bringing this game over!

    • Kevin Tan

Amazingly, it appears NA is getting this before the EU, despite getting announced second :o

    • Barrylocke89

Was that “$” code for “Please send me money so I won’t be poor when I spend money I may or may not have on buying this cool new game…”? ;P

  • OMG

but in all seriousness, I want this game, like, last year

  • Reiko_Chan

No money will be in my wallet in 2013.

  • brian yep

    Thank you, Nintendo.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    I…came……came……came…..came..No regrets here.^_^
