Sin & Punishment Developer, Treasure, Working On Nintendo 3DS Game

Sin & Punishment and Ikaruga developer, Treasure, are working on a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, according to a report at Nintendo Life, who spotted an interview with company president, Masato Maegawa, in U.K. magazine GamesTM.

“We are making a new game on Nintendo 3DS now,” Maegawa reportedly said to GamesTM. “Not multiplatform, but exclusive to 3DS.”

Maegawa also suggested that the game in question is an action title, but no further details have been shared thus far.

In 2009, Treasure released Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, a sequel to the original Nintendo 64 game, which was published by Nintendo. Following that, they’ve released Xbox Live Arcade versions of Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, and Bangai-O HD.

New Treasure game for 3DS? I already want it. Cannot wait to see what it’ll look like

  • Dynamite Heady pachislot 3D!

*always sets his expectations rock bottom so he’s never disappointed*

    •  But Treasure only releases amazing games. =P

        Even Stretch Panic or Silpheed?
They do produce some amazing games, but they did a few mistakes as well.

      Stretch Panic 2: Stretch Harder.

….part of me wants to play the original to see how truly bad it is.

      • It’s bad but in a quirky what-did-I-just-play kinda way.  Shame cause the boss designs were awesome and the concept is neat but controls weren’t great and there wasn’t much to do… it was like a proof of concept for Treasure or a part of what could of been much more.

If you are willing to put up with its design It is one of those games you should play just once especially for Treasure fans.

Well that is something to keep my eyes on. I wonder if it will be another shmup.

  • Cannot fucking wait, Sin & Punishment is easily in my top 10 games of all time.

    Treasure? Nuff said.^_^

Awesome news! (As long as it comes in PAL/NTSC-U regions)

They once held a place in my heart currently filled by Platinum (because the latter makes games more often).

If it is Sin and Punishment, I hope it controls better than Uprising. But color me interested.

oh man I bet its going to be awesome

Treasure is one of maybe a handful of game makers left in existence who really still seems to have a grasp on what makes playing videogames such a uniquely rewarding experience.

While others are too busy clumsily trying to imitate literature or movies they know that all that is relevant for a game is fun challenging gameplay. Whatever they are working on it cannot come out soon enough.

Between Guardian Heroes, Sin and Punishment, Bangai-O, and every other game they ever touched, I have no doubt that it will be a damn good game, no matter what it is.

  • Namuro

This certainly is a good news, I’m looking forward to finding out what kind of game it will be. By “action”, it could be a side-scrolling game like Gunstar Heroes… Well, we’ll find out soon enough!

Speaking of Sin & Punishment, I would love for them to make a 3D version of the original game on the N64 as a digital download with some enhanced graphics, that’d be great.

If you have a 3D capable PC I highly recommend trying a N64 emulator for this purpose ^_^

9 years ago I tried this with stereo glasses and tweaked convergence. The carrier seen is absolutely amazing, and deflecting bullets a blast!

  • 60hz

Great to hear, I was wondering what they ere up to!

  • Solomon_Kano

Interest piqued. This should be good.

  • kylehyde

I hope that in the next direct we can found more about this title.

  • Is Sin & Punishment Star Successor still sitting on my shelf?

    Would I like another one?
