Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic Conjures Up A Spell In December

By Ishaan . November 7, 2012 . 12:35pm

A new Magician’s Quest game is headed to the Nintendo 3DS next month. Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic, is slated for a 3DS release in December, and Konami shared the first screenshots of the game this morning. You can view these below.

The Magician’s Quest games take place at a magic academy where you attend as an apprentice wizard, solve problems, interact with other residents, and so on. The only game in the series that has been localized thus far is Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times.

As previously reported, Town of Magic will feature a new town and new townsfolk. The town will feature a large shopping mall for residents to visit, and you can open up your own shop up there as well.

Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic will be released on December 20th for 4,980 yen in Japan.

Food for thought:

That’s a lot of life-simulation games released for the 3DS this year. By the end of the year, Japan will have: Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, Rune Factory 4, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Fantasy Life and Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic.

Why is it that the first screenshots of this game are only being released a month before launch?  Aren’t such marketing materials normally distributed quite a bit earlier?

    • Konami. :’)

It’s a pity, too. The Magician Quest games sell very well.

Maybe this game will also sell as well as Bravely Default and shock us? As i believe Japanese gamer usually follow one IP very carefully there?^_^

        • Mmm, well, at least Square gave Bravely Default some promotion. Konami look like they don’t really give a poop about this one. And it’s coming out after Animal Crossing, which is a similar game, so the timing honestly couldn’t be worse.

It’s a pity. The last couple of Magician’s Quest games slowly sold and sold and sold over several months and did some pretty decent numbers at the end of it all.

A question here. Does the previous instalment for Magician Quest had lots of ads to support the game?

As i remember, Konami also only release a bit of PV for the game there?

          • Whoops, sorry, I missed this reply. I’m not sure about promotions for past Magician’s Quest games, unfortunately…

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

No problem.^_^ I actually had found that Konami had started some PV for the game.

Now, lets see whether they will continue pushing this game or not.^_^

Bring on the life sims! Also, it’s a shame we’ll probably not get this, given how the only English release sort of tanked due to Konami apparently…Forgetting to bother with marketing it? Ahh, Konami….

Admittedly, I never even heard of this until now. I guess that does say something about marketing… or how I live under a rock. Maybe a combination of both.

I saw a video once on GameTrailers, back when I used to go there, and that was it. Totally forgot about it.

Konami does really badly with all their smaller IPs. They just shove them out and that’s how we find out about them releasing, if at all.

I really hope this game will do well and come here.T_T Having a competitor for a series is always a good thing.

Come on Konami, you guys should start the ads spree now. You should know that fans does not only love MG series from you guys but also many other IP you guys had.T_T

I can imagine, Animal Crossing competing with Magician Quest.^_^ Level 5 Fantasy Life also seems to give the same vibe there.

    • Just an early heads up—Animal Crossing is going to steamroll everything next week. :P

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Nothing suprising lol. I pity any game that come out next week though.T_T
