See How Mighty Switch Force HD On Wii U Looks Compared To 3DS

By Ishaan . November 15, 2012 . 5:00pm

WayForward Technologies are bringing their Nintendo 3DS platformer, Mighty Switch Force, to the Wii U as Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition. Today, they shared screenshots of the Wii U version, and we dug up a few screens of the Nintendo 3DS version to compare them to.

The scenes in the screenshots aren’t identical, but they’re similar enough to give on a good idea of the differences in art style and the visual upgrade. Take a look at them below:

Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition will be released via the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U as a launch game. A price has not yet been announced.

I love how sharp the visuals on the Wiiu version look.

  • z_merquise

HD version looked sharp (like what Herok said) and is exactly like the promo images and artwork.

But the pixelated one from the 3DS looked more detailed (just look at Patricia’s sprites and her mech and you’ll see that the it had more small details that was missing in the HD version).

It looks great, it’s going to be a great eShop title, although I prefer my 3DS version… dunno why, maybe it’s like @z_merquise:disqus said, it looks better in some things…

    I’m confused T~T

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    WOW!!! thats sharp

  • Göran Isacson

Less pixelated, but also, I think, less interesting to my eyes. There is something about all those gritty pixels coming together that the “hand-drawn” look of the Wii U can’t quite match.

Possibly because I grew up on Megaman Zero and pixels are so ingrained into my skull that I can’t appreciate anything else, but what’re ya gonna do.

So it seems I’m not alone who has a familiar feeling when look at this game visuals from 3DS version. It really reminds me MMZ/MMZX graphics.

      • Göran Isacson

It does, doesn’t it? Even if this isn’t Inticreates, I do wonder if WayForwards artists didn’t take inspiration from them… or if that’s just a look sprites in general have and it’s all just a big coincidence.

…Why are there spikes on the first shot comparison?

    awesome~

  • Zonic505

Wow, I completely forgot this was a launch title game. I seriously cannot wait to get this once I get a Wii U after having fun with the 3DSware version. Hoping there’ll be additional levels/content.

  • Elvick

Prefer the way the game looks on the 3DS tbh. Looks nice on Wii U though, but I just prefer the 3DS version’s pixelated look.

I love this kind of graphics.
Can you imagine Castlevania Symphony of the Nights and those DS Metroidvania with the graphics like this?
    HD Remake those game!!!

  • elppakcuf

dunno, original proportions look cute, the art looked good, the new one just looks like some cheap flash game :(
i take pixelart anyday than cheap flash animated mess, any metroid-castlevania going hd like this would give me a heart attack

        • CountMarth92

This is none of your business.

Patricia looks supremely pissed off in the new screens.

For those who want to see the game’s new art style in motion, there’s a trailer out:
