Bayonetta In Anarchy Reigns Is GameStop Exclusive In North America

By Ishaan . November 20, 2012 . 1:00pm

In Europe, pre-ordering the “Day One” Edition of Anarchy Reigns will get you Bayonetta as a playable character in the multiplayer brawler developed by PlatinumGames. In North America, Bayonetta is GameStop-exclusive. Watch a trailer for her above.

Pre-ordering Anarchy Reigns from GameStop in the U.S. will avail you the same benefits as pre-ordering in Europe does. You’ll get Bayonetta as a playable character and two extra game modes—Mad Survival and Dogfight—as free DLC. You can view a trailer for the new game modes above this paragraph.

Anarchy Reigns will be released in North America on January 8th, 2013, for $30.

I thought she was a default character??

    • james2009001

      Japan only

      • Belenger

^ No, she was first edition dlc on japan, 2 months later she was released as DLC, extremely unbalanced >_> op as hell.

      • Budgiecat

        wtf mang….

  • YourAshyAss_Elbows

(Didn’t I buy this game months ago? Oh wait, I did.)

  • Shadowman

Is this game still 30.00$ ?

    • Brandonmkii

Did you read the article? I hate to be that guy, but it’s like, right there.

      • Shadowman

        Ah. Just making sure.

  • Peeka Chu

This is a bit of an odd promotion, considering B2 is a Wii U exclusive (timed, most likely – it happens  even the MS published NG was ported eventually) and on account of that game not being available on the aforementioned platform.

    • Budgiecat

Its more odd that the Japanese version (which is in English btw) has her as a default character (which james told me below)

      • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

She was a pre-order bonus in the Japanese version as well.

I don’t think it will be a timed-exclusive.  I think the chances are really low, not high.  It’s not just that Nintendo is publishing the game.  They are also funding it. (They revived it)

Let people have their hopes. Lord knows I sent in 6,000 emails to SEGA as a kid to port JSRF to anything but Xbox so I didn’t have to buy one. Do you know what happened?

        …Guess. …I bought an Xbox.

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Well considering this game released with Bayonetta as DLC in Japan long before Bayonetta 2 was even announced, it isn’t promotion for Bayonetta 2.

I love. Love. Love Platinum Games, but I hate. Hate. Hate retailer exclusives… especially for retailers that I refuse to give money to. SEGA can EAD.

    • Aoshi00

I know.. Dang! I originally pre-ordered w/ Gamestop months ago, then switched to Buy.com because I had some credit expiring *.*… I hope Bayo-nee would be at least available as DLC later.. store exclusive isn’t too bad, the worst are the perma exclusives.. like the Sonic Casino stage.. it’s not that important but available on both Jpn PSN and XBL.. just not on the US side..

As long as they’re sold as DLCs though I don’t have a problem, not crazy about platform exclusives like Joker for Arkham and Benedict Arnold for AC3 (I prefer the 360′s controller)…

Anyway, just to be safe, gonna cancel from Buy.com and order from Gamestop now.. don’t wanna take any chances :) And personally I don’t got much beef w/ my local GS, the people are nice there.. I just ;ole tp avoid sales taxes if possible lol..

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Too bad MG Rising has yet to be released if not Raiden could have been here (remembers PlayStation All Stars… meh). Anyway, this game is stilll freaking gold!!

    … or platinum?

  • LynxAmali

    -preorder bonus

    Okay. Make sense, I guess.

    -Gamestop Exclusive

    How ’bout universal?
    Y’know, NOT retailer exclusive.

I don’t even have a Gamestop/ EB anywhere near me!

  • http://alboreo.tumblr.com Alboreo

Yes, because splitting your multiplayer playerbase on day one based upon where they chose to purchase the game is an excellent idea. /s

would like to clear something up here: if you don’t have her, you can play with people with her. if you have her; you can play with people without her. my guess is a day-1 compatibility patch. how do i know this? Two Best Friends Play did it across multiple consoles. only Woolie had Bayonetta.

So does everyone “Feel better now?” =)

    • OatMatadoQuatro

Oh yo, yo, yo, “Here we go” :)

    • http://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/ Thomas FROEHLICHER

I will feel better when we have Bayonetta 2 as well

  • Richard N

I would be angry because I refuse to shop at Gamestop anymore, but the game is releasing at $29….

Buying the DLC after purchase won’t really hurt anyone’s pockets whatsoever.

  • http://twitter.com/JadenPrinceton Demy / C.Guzman

Awesome! Now I can get my hands on those modes I was missing…and another Bayo! Unless the one I have now can work on this disc and not redeem her twice?

  • cedx123

Sucks that its a retail exclusive but I can’t complain because at least we still get Bayonetta better get to gamestop on mon.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

    Grabbing the Europe edition then.

  • almostautumn

I thought this was a digital-only title for NA?

    • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

Thankfully that is not the case…

  • Abel.exe

Dammit, I want Bayonetta and that Mad Survival mode, but I’m not american so I dont have a Gamestop anywhere near me
Hope they release it as DLCs later at least
