What Has The 3rd Birthday Developer, Hexadrive, Been Up To?

By Ishaan . November 23, 2012 . 10:30am

Wondering what The 3rd Birthday developer, Hexadrive, have been up to since they worked on that game? They’ve been keeping themselves fairly busy, actually.

As previously reported, Hexadrive worked on Okami HD for the PlayStation 3. Additionally, the Product page on their company website mentions that they were also involved with Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D for the Nintendo 3DS and that they also worked with Capcom on E.X. Troopers.

Hexadrive seem to have a knack for developing good shooters, and they have experience with porting games, too. Hmm… that would make them a good candidate for porting Resident Evil: Revelations to home consoles.

  • Wow, I just bought Okami HD off the PSN like two hours ago.

  • Aw come on the title  should be Reveleations :p

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Hahaha! The first thing I thought when seeing this was “Hey that’s Dylan Ng!” XD

    • Lol TQ for the shout-out. I guess its no secret tht I want this game to be in english so tht I can see a WT of it ^.^;

Parasite Eve 3 was terrible though.

    • RablaAndrews

No, the game itself was fantastic, offered a lot of customisation and replayability.

It just wasn’t a good Parasite Eve game.

i agree… its a very engaging game… but.. the plot… not so much

The gameplay balancing design is not that good though, in higher difficulties the upgrades does not help much as the enemies were way harder than your attack power and it ends up as button mashing fest…

    • Syltique

Best graphics (kamikokuryo art design, FFXII, FFXIII) and soundtrack (Suzuki, Sekito, Yokomura) on the entire system.  Best shooter controls for the entire system.  The only thing anyone had any issue with was the story, and I actually loved it.  There were tons of upgrades for the guns, the stages looked amazing, and the overdive move was awesome.

The game is one of the top PSP games, it’s just that people exaggerate the flaws or simply haven’t played it.  It didn’t sell very well.

Really I thought the level designs were pretty dull to be honest. I stopped playing it halfway through because I got so bored of it. I did come back about 6 months later though to wrap it up. Couple of the bosses were cool though.

Yeah the story was pretty bad. The ending especially bad not helped by the voice acting. Jared being the worst of the bunch.

As for third person shooters I’d take a Syphon Filter over the third birthday anyday.

        • Lester Paredes

SYPHON FILTER AND RESISTANCE RETRIBUTION FTW! Those games are even better on the Vita. Sure, you have to fiddle with the aiming sensitivity until you get what you need, but once you find that sweet spot… man… it’s like those games were made for 2 analog sticks or something…

    • Lester Paredes

I mean, sure, if you think a comprehensible story, interesting characters, and repetitive game play is terrible. But what matters is, we got to see a wussified Aya Breya almost naked for the whole game, and if it was good enough for Squeenix, then by God, it’s good enough for me!
In all seriousness, I don’t think it was terrible, I just don’t think it was good. If it weren’t tied to Parasite Eve (and it barely was at that) I think I would have liked it more. A lackadaisical and wishy-washy Aya? It’s like they knew her character inside and out!

  • Brimfyre

From the thumbnail I thought that was a FLCL game.

I might have wet myself a little… over nothing.

    • Lester Paredes

Well, you’re not the only one who was confused and, ultimately, embarrassed.

    • landlock

It reminded me of Eureka 7 straight away. Most likely as I just finished watching it the other day.

  • Ferofax

Capcom’s done perfectly fine with Revelations, I don’t really see any advantage to having somebody else port it for them.
