The First Glimpse Of A Dragon In 7th Dragon 2020-II

Sega have shared the screenshots of 7th Dragon 2020-II, their upcoming PSP role-playing game, which sees dragons invading Japan (again) in the year 2021. Take a look at the screenshots below.

7th Dragon 2021 features an improved character customization system with access to 40 different voices (including both male and female) to choose from when creating your party members. It also adds an “Idol” class, which is capable of issuing orders to other party members.

    i will import

  • Jose Deckard Narváez

still with hopes for this game to be imported…

Not to be a killjoy, but until the first 2020 can make it – which is a very unlikely chance in itself – this game is out of the question.

      • AkuLord3

idk there are cases where sometimes you get the sequel even though the first one never came over. But you’re right though…chances are very slim

        Why do people always forget the original too. >_>;

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

I don’t forget that, but as things stand now, it’s more like a separate precursor in terms of aesthetics and mechanics, which places it a bit at a different level. That’s just me though.

          • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

            Meh. Still the same series.

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

You can import it easily. Localization is likely the word you were looking for… and that is not likely to happen.

  • GinSilver

That’s quite an impressive set of chompers that dragon has, although that multicolor tongue weirds me out. Also, it looks like we might be getting more new Character models for costumization than just the Idol ones.

    • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Looks like the fabulous space-cousin of Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls.

…Now that I think about it, I wanna see both games try to cross over, just to see how incredibly they don’t blend well with each other.

He just looks like a crocodile with wings to me…

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

It’s the teeth. And the mouth that extends way beyond its skull.

  • DanteJones

Liking the visuals so far, but I can’t help but notice that the character to the right of the female idol looks a lot like the Persona 4 protagonist, complete with swag.

Playing through the first 7th Dragon 2020 and loving it!! I makes me feel that I’m playing Etrian Odyssey but with 3D graphics and more history!

I like the Etrian series but you had to wait long time searching the dungeons and other thing to advance the history. It still was a good dungeon crawler!

7th Dragon 2020 is currently my favorite game along Sol Trigger which uses almost the same battle mechanics.

    • harmonyworld

it’s not crazy difficult like Etrian Odyssey is it?

      • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

It isn’t a first-person dungeon crawler like Etrian Odyssey for one thing, so I would expect that alone makes it “easier” in some respects. :)

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Combat system is the same, but yes, getting rid of the grid-based movement and trap mechanics that come with it did simplify the formula significantly.

      • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

No, it’s actually quite accessible for those who are turned away from EO only by the difficulty. It’s still challenging, but your party is compact and skills you get are efficient, so I found it quite balanced. Party setups do affect your team strategy though; some setups are beginner-friendly while some require more tactics.

    • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

It’s made by the same director who created Etrian Odyssey to begin with, which is why. The composer is the same too.

Wow that dragon’s mouth is huge. I don’t trust anything with a mouth bigger than my head lol

So the secret class is catgirl? Are we going to get catboys as well? It’d be interesting the least. I kinda want a dogboy like Inugami in Binbougami ga~ xD

    • Göran Isacson

… And curiosity compels me to ask- would you make him a tank or defender class, in order to take as much punishment as Inugami would want?

      • https://twitter.com/RaiohV Raioh

I’d make him a class that has the lowest defense possible so that he can really feel the pain~

  • Foryth

    I already pre-ordered. :3

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This is the game that i believe i should not even wait to get them.T_T It is on PSP…..import ahoys.T_T

  • IsaacGravity

Oh my gosh! Are the Rushe race back?! THIS is a pleasant surprise!!!

    • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Ah, must be from the first game. No wonder I had no clue who they are.

      • IsaacGravity

*nods* The Rushe race was from the first game. The males had pointed ears while females had cat ears (though it looked more fox-like to me). Don’t ask me how that works.

But I’m glad to see their (well, at most the female for now) back.

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Well, as long as we get more portraits to shuffle with, I’m not complaining~

  • Elvick

    This looks really good.

  • http://twitter.com/StarDudeXD Karl Shane

Is it just me or does anyone else see that “dragon” as an Ultimate Chimera from Mother 3?

  • miyamoto

    PSP is still very awesome!
Yuzo Koshiro of Streets of Rage!

Loved the DS one but this one is on another level!
