Meet The "Monsters" In Monster Monpiece

By Spencer . November 27, 2012 . 11:41pm

imageWe had to put "monsters" in quotes because Compile Heart re-imagined mythological creatures like the Unicorn (right) as women. It’s kind of like SystemSoft Alpha’s Moe Moe Taisen series where World War II vehicles are girls.

Here’s a look at some of the cards for Alurune, Will o’ the Wisp, Backbeard, Minataur, Nekomata, Suzaku, Seiryu, and Basilisk.

Monster Monpiece is supposed to be a card battling game, but so far all of the trailers have just showed… a lot of screen rubbing.

  • Laith Rem

The unnamed monster (between Nekomata and Suzaku) is a Mandrake.

    • PoweredByHentai

      So… Mandrake == Mandragora?

      • Laith Rem

        Yeah that.

Man I forget what is the english mythological term =V

  • vanhyde

    what another boring-game-sells-moe-women-only ?

    • amagidyne

Forget it, Jake. It’s Compile Heart.

  • CirnoLakes

    I’ve spotted lolis.

What a clever way to sell a digital artbook.

  • Curan_Altea

    Well that looks…….. Different?
This game certainly looks interesting, but I think I’ll sit by being mildly interested.

  • Syn

The pink seal at the beginning kinda looks like a………………

  • Epitome

  • Morricane

The creator of this really should make eroge…I mean, the whole concept in itself comes off as a watered down one already :)

Got to love how that guy started rubbing, like his life depended on it, once the image was in full view on the screen. So, rubbing = card acquisition?

I’m a bit disappointed with the character designs, for some. Suzaku reminds of Chocolina from FFXIII-2 – loving that design! Seiryu, Mandragora and Nekomata look cool, too. Doesn’t the Mandragora look like P-Ko from Arakawa?

Of all the designs there, the neko always look good, it’s the standard. If you can’t get that one right, might as well give up. :D

edit: forgot to add the word “life”; so stupid.

Designs are great, and this definitely seems a really cool way to re-iterate Card-game interests among adults (presumably men, I’m thinking). Still, think it’s a shame that they’re doing those Rub-down trailers rather than the actual gameplay of the cards, as while it’s funny/sexy, it doesn’t really mean squat if the game itself is boring or regurgitated.

Monster sure are getting smarter…. Exploiting our fondness to moe to lure us in… Be very afraid….

  • Hoshi星

I kind of want to import it, but I don’t know whether it’s import friendly or not. It’s a card game, so basically it implies texts of cards that has special effect. But then again, there’s a rubbing gameplay… Still hace time to think.

Also, those trailers are so hilarious.

  • Z3

The art is moe but I prefer Kenkou crosses’ monster designs.

  • Tianyu Wei

btw, you forgot Mandragora that plant looking girl.

  • Nanashi Toushiro

The gameplay is “interesting” in many ways.

  • almostautumn

Oh man; can you imagine playing this on the bus or train? What a ridiculous sight; “Oh! Ah!” *Furious rubs* “Come onnnnnnnn!”

  • Kai2591

glad they gave the name of the illustrators…I’m liking Senmu’s drawings~

  • Darkrise

    What no Lamia?
