Deathstroke Brings His Mercenary Skills To Injustice: Gods Among Us

By Ishaan . November 28, 2012 . 10:30am

DC’s master assassin, Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke, is a playable character in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios have announced. You can take a first look at in-game footage of Deathstroke in the upcoming fighter below, courtesy of GameSpot:

Unsurprisingly, Warner Bros. are playing up the scenes between Deathstroke and Green Arrow in the trailer. That’s because Deathstroke also happens to be part of the ongoing live-action Arrow TV series, where he appears in full costume.

Injustice: Gods Among Us will be released in April 2013 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.

Sweet now include raven, starfire and beast boy.

Being serious this is a nice addition, I still think that this game needs more villains. Also it needs black canary.

  • Spirit Macardi

Darn it, they should have had him voiced by Ron Perlman. That would have made for a great callback.

    • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

      That would have been fantastic!

  • Shadowman

Nice^^ Now put Robin in the game.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

Dick is in it already as Nightwing

      • Shadowman

Dang. What was I think, your right.

    • puchinri

      Which one? x’D
(I’d like to see Red Hood and Damian!Robin though, tbh. They wouldn’t really fit anyway.)

      • ForteWily

Jason might be a better fit as he is characterized now (his Outlaws have mellowed him out quite a bit, so long as the topic doesn’t involve Bruce). But Damian, no… to brutal, to feral, and the brat still need work as a character. I don’t think that Damian has come into his own yet, but that might happen… soon or later.

        • puchinri

Being too brutal and feral would work with the tone and atmosphere of the game (which fits for Damian and Jason).

          • ForteWily

Well that is kind of the thing, it’s rather clear from what NetherRealm has put together here has grit. But that doesn’t really effect the atmosphere all that much, you have some really colour characters like Green Arrow, Superman (to a point), The Joker (Might be stretching this one), Nightwing and The Flash mixing it with “The Goddam” Batman and now Slade, etc.

As it stands now, Jason would be somewhere in the middle of that dymanic where Damian would till that too far into the blood and gor territory.
That is not to say that NetherRealm isn’t free to do as they please, they clearly are and Warner Bros. clearly trusts them with the DC license (considering this is the second time that NR has gotten to play with it, historically). But honestly, they are not trying to build another MK (at least not yet) I don’t see the reason to force the matter with Injustice.

          • puchinri

I think it’s easy to take the color out of a character though (in all sorts of manner of speaking).

I think both of them could be handled about the same as far as direction (in character handling), but to me, it’d come down to the difference in what they use. (After all, Jason has been shown to kill and as violent or plain as he pleases, and while Damian has been toned down significantly, previous Damian would fit well too.)

I’m not really considered with them trying to be dark and gritty, because I actually find that really bland myself, but I can see them leaning toward it. I kind of feel like the game is leaning toward being ridiculous though, and I don’t feel like Jason or Damian fit for that reason (but I also feel the same about Batman and Slade at that point).

      • Shadowman

I was thinking the Teen Titan Robin but Red hood would be great he go for the kill.

        • puchinri

Oh, that TT-cartoon Robin would have been interesting~. But yeah, Red Hood fits all too well in that manner, but I almost feel like he’d be “too human” (ability and weapon-wise) to work.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Static Shock or blue beetle would be lovely

    • Brion Valkerion

they have been hinting at Blue Beetle for about 3 weeks now. Supposedly more reveals this week maybe.

    • puchinri

Yes to both~! They definitely need more love.

  • Richard N

    Give me Supergirl already dammit!

    • ThunderGod_Cid

      Give me Power Girl, instead.^_^

  • KingGunblader

    Fuck yeah!

  • Christopher Nunes

When I hear Slade, I think of Slade from the anime-like cartoon series on Cartoon Network “Teen Titans”.

Still not sure if I’ll get this game, but it is interesting though.

    • hawk222

…They’re the same character. Except that Slade in Teen Titans is more interested in conquest than commerce.

      • Christopher Nunes

Well it’s THAT version of Slade that I think of and he was a tough dude!

  • Internet is Crash

Lobo pls. I need another bulky character besides Grundy

  • neetyneety

Wow, never even heard of this guy before I saw this trailer, but he’s already up there in my list of notable badasses. He’s like a serious Deadpool. AWESOME.

    • puchinri

Well, Deadpool is based on Deathstroke. x’D
And yeah, he’s quite the badass.

  • Mister_Nep

I just recently started reading comics. This Deathstroke is the same Slade from the Teen Titans show a few year ago?

If so, who are his major enemies? I’ve only seen him pop up once to pick a fight with Dick Grayson in one of the Batman and Robin comics by Grant Morrison.

    • XiaomuArisu

      Yes its the same.
They just didnt want to use the word “Death” on a kids show.
