Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Has A Mix Of Medieval And Supernatural

By Ishaan . November 28, 2012 . 10:00am

Level 5 will release Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney in Japan tomorrow, and this morning, they released yet another trailer for the game that shows off a mix of dramatic cutscenes and in-game footage, with Phoenix fighting off knights and Layton investigating the supernatural. Take a look at the new trailer below:

In case you’re just getting caught up, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney takes place in a different time setting than the one each respective series is normally set in. Phoenix, Layton, Luke and Maya find themselves in Labyrinth City, a place where magic appears to be real, and the city is controlled by a shady character known as the Storyteller (the man in the creepy mask).

The story begins with a girl named Mahone, who is about to be prosecuted under suspicion of being a witch, and Phoenix defending her in court. Interestingly, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney appears to take past events from the two series into account, as the game has Maya commenting at one point that she and Phoenix haven’t seen each other in a while.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will be released on November 29th in Japan.

me want this, so they better bring this game here, OR ELSE…

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      sooon…. ಠ_ʖ ͡ಠ

  • Shadowman

Dang that lady was about to choke that goat to death.

  • I really hope this game is localized!

but there is a problem… Capcom is the one who takes care of the localisation…
    we are doomed!!! D:

    • Youko

In this game’s case, it would be up to Level-5.

      • anthony apduhan

        Or Crapcom… :(

        • Youko

No, this game is up to Level-5 since they are the developers and publisher. Capcom stated it’s not up to them.

          • Really? Last year they said Capcom was going to publish the game ‘-‘ anyway, that’s good news! =D

      • Elvick

You’d think that Capcom would be all, “Yo, Level-5, get on it dood. Because then our property will be attached to a better selling one and it will get the word out there about our games.”

Level-5 should know by now that tons of people want this game, so if they don’t do it, they’re going to get some backlash on it.

        • Youko

Yeah, I think they definitely want it, but they haven’t really promoted it themselves which would help out if they did.

As for Level-5, they did have a poll and stuff, and they definitely know fans want it. We just don’t know if they will until the next game event or something.

…But Ace Attorney had a pretty solid localization, I thought.

      • yeah, but I fear for the same fate Ace Attorney Investigations 2 had… OK, Miles isn’t so famous has Wright, but still…

    It looks intense.

I hope the court sessions are just as intense as the animated cutscenes, though with Takumi around that can be safely be expected.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    ( ͡- ͜ʖ ͡-) Looks awesome

  • Gholla20

I think they should also turn this into an OVA. With like 26 episodes. Sound good!? HELL YEAH IT SOUNDS GOOD!

  • Wake

Sissel from Ghost Trick should make a cameo.

  • Niermyico

Ohhh man! That track that starts at the 2 minute mark gave me goosebumps! I want t listen to the OST and play the game of course.

  • Please let Maya channel Mia when Phoenix is cornered!!!

  • neetyneety

Oh god, that was glorious. All those voices, I love them, especially that old guy (don’t know why, but I always find the old gents to be awesome characters overall).

  • Zoozbuh

The orchestral music sounds so frickin’ beautiful!! And a combination of the two games (both awesome)… I NEED THIS GAME SO BAD. LOCALISE IT GODDAMMIT
