Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade Flying To The U.S. “Soon”

By Ishaan . November 29, 2012 . 10:10am

Square Enix and DeNA are bringing social game, Final Fantasy Brigade, to the U.S. Titled Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade, the game will be released for free on iOS and Android devices.

Final Fantasy: Airborn Brigade takes place in an ancient kingdom, responsible for guarding crystals, which is invaded by monsters. Each player rides an airship and players can form groups called airborne brigades to fight bosses together. The goal is to restore to lustre of the crystals, which have lost their radiance.

What bosses? Ifrit, Shiva, Bahamut, and Odin are all in the game. Each player gains experience and levels up as you go along, and there’s a PvP element in the game, too, where your party can fight your friends.

Square Enix say Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade is coming “soon”. If you pre-register for the game (which you can do here), you’ll be notified by e-mail when it is released, and receive a free three-month exclusive in-game card featuring Cloud from Final Fantasy VII.

Back in May, Square Enix reported that Final Fantasy: Airborne Brigade had over 2 million subscribers. That number has now increased to 3 million. Square Enix recently released the game in Korea as well.

  • Guys, enough with the Type-0 requests. Everyone knows people want to see Type-0 in the west, including Square Enix. Until market conditions make it possible for that to happen, people will need to be patient. Constantly bringing it up in reports completely unrelated to Type-0 isn’t going to make a lick of difference.

Stick to the topic at hand, please. If you have nothing to say about FF Brigade, then read and move on. You don’t have to leave a comment.

  • i tend to get addicted to games like this, and the artwork and characters are a sure win :3

  • only downside is that as soon as someone hacks it, the pvp is broken.

  • CirnoLakes

    Well it doesn’t look that…

Free… well, I can’t pass up free on my Android all that easily.

  • ToshiChan

says I need a referral code hmmm

  • I should get this just for Ace. Type 0 won’t be forgotten by me, that’s for sure.

I think Type 0 fans waiting for a year have been more then patient.

But yeah, Brigade is awesome, past FF characters from mainline series and Tactics and Type 0, along with GILGAMESH can be summoned for special attacks. It’s awesome.

  • Thought this was a weird rename for Bravely Default
    Oh well.

Went ahead and registered, this would be my first game to play on Android OS. I think it seems somewhat compelling.

Now if other games like Tanken Doriando could receive the same treatment.

  • KingGunblader

I registered. Free is free is free… at least I hope. I don’t want to drown in microtransactions.

  • why ….. why ….. why is that chocobo so damn CUTE!!!!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Register already.^_^ After playing Thearhythm, i kinda like the characters model lol.

  • Elvick

I’ll try it out on my tablet.

  • i dont get the thumbs down on my hack comment.
im not saying it want it hacked, but freemium games gets hacked 90% of the time.

therefore you have the players who actually buy In ap purchases, and the once who have stats out of this world due to hack.

therefor the versus modes gets broken.

  • It seems SE is set on tackling the mobile market worldwide. It’s a whole different beast, so good luck for them. I’m under the impression that as a company they do lack direction nowadays though…but that’s just me.

I’ll prolly get this eventually, assuming this makes it to Europe. Free is free, after all.

So far all of the S-E iOS games I’ve played have been horribly hampered by in-game greed. I purchased Drakerider only to find that I’d still need to buy in-game items to really play the game. If this game is actually playable free and not severely hampered to require in-game purchases it’ll bring a bit of my lost faith for S-E back, but I’m not holding my breath.
