Capcom’s foreign social games subsidiary, Beeline Interactive, have acquired the Ghostbusters license to develop a social game based on the Ghostbusters movie.

The game, which is planned for a worldwide release, will allow users to serve as Ghostbusers themselves. The goal will be to drive ghosts out of New York City while upgrading their gear and characters.

The Ghostbusters social game will be released in early 2013 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Capcom say the game is being designed to encourage fathers and sons to play together.

And between Monster Hunter great surprises and Dragon’s Dogma’s expansions, Capcom needs to disappoint us with things like these inbetween, just to show who’s the boss.

Because girls never dreamt of growing up to become a Ghostbuster, amirite? They even have a girl Ghostbuster character in that screenshot, they have to know that there are female fans that are likely to buy this too… ah, well. Silly thinking on their behalf aside, I guess this could be decent? Not too sure if it’s going to be an action-game or if it’s going to be yet another card-based or purchase-based game, so I can’t say too much at this point.
