DotEmu, publishers of retro games on modern hardware (they recently brought The Last Express to iOS devices), have announced their next iOS and Android title—Raiden Legacy.

That’s actually four titles—Raiden Legacy is a compilation of four games from the Raiden series of games. Included in the compilation are: Raiden, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet.

Raiden Legacy comes with the following features on smartphones:

  • Two difficulty modes: Medium and Hard.
  • Nine languages available: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese
  • Video filtering (for rich, smooth graphics)
  • iCade compatible
  • iPhone 5 optimized
  • Game Center compatible: 15 unlockable achievements + online leaderboards.

Raiden Legacy is out now and costs $4.99/€4.49.

Black Friday + Christmas shopping are putting too much of a hole in my pocket to drop the $5 on this right now, but I’ll definitely be picking this up down the road to support all the love and effort DotEmu have put into this! :3

I guess a free trial would be nice, since I don’t know how it would run on my phone (it’s always a problem with 2D games due to the low memory).

Getting the entire Raiden Fighters series for five bucks is a pretty good deal, and baking in support for Ion’s iCade is always a good thing.

Seriously, though, devs like Taito and Sega should actually look into iCade support. It’d make a lot of their iOS offerings worth the scratch.

is it possible to play co-op on the same device (like a tablet)?
