Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy on iPhone? It’s coming. It’s already on the App Store in New Zealand. While you wait for your region to get the game, here’s a trailer that Square Enix shared today of the iOS version:

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy on iOS will be a free app. You’ll need to pay to download additional songs and characters to use.

    not another 3ds -> ios >.>

  • AzuNo17

    Huh.. no FMV songs.

  • maumac77

The only thing I don’t like is that I’m terrible at sliding with my phone. I’ll still get it though. I need to. IT HAS RAMZA

Crystal Chronicles music!?! That’s fantastic! I really hope they release some of this new content for 3DS.

  • epy

Wow, no 7 day teaser site for an iOS port of a SE title? What is this madness?!

  • Victor Hunter

So I just tried it out and it’s definitely not optimized for iphone 4 which is a real shame. Animation is choppy and at times made it difficult to play. Also the backgrounds are simplified if you’re playing on a 4. It becomes a generic looking level with a picture of the game’s location in the background. Pretty underwhelming.

A lot of the character customization has been removed and there aren’t any more items or collecting crystals to unlock characters.

Proficards have also been simplified quite a bit, though it looks like there’s still a spot for the trading cards.

The free app only gives you Zanarkand and One Winged Angel and the rest are downloads for 99 cents or packs of 4 songs for 2.99.

The actual song selection looks quite good and there are a number of tracks that weren’t in the original. Plus some really cool new characters like Ramza and Celes.

I doubt I’ll be buying anything until they make it more playable on the iPhone 4, but overall it looks like they’ve done a decent job. A simplified experience gameplay wise, but plenty of good content from what I can tell.

Yeah just got it now. Coming from someone who hasn’t played the 3DS version. Only complaint is the loading times. Game looks real crisp on my 4S. Oh and the Add-On section is lovely with the previews and such. Menus are easy to navigate and charming to look at.

And thus, the Vita was once again overlooked for a shitty iPhone port…

    • LustEnvy

      I agree. Vita needs this!

See above comment. This is your second warning for port-begging.

        • Lester Paredes

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I couldn’t wish for a port to the gaming system of my choice in the comments section. Silly me! The 3 likes I got must mean I’m the only one!

It’s a rule that has been on the site for over a year now – maybe even two.

        • Lester Paredes

          When was my first?

      • Lester Paredes

I agree. I’d love to play this on my Vita.

      Read the rules, please.

No console complaints around here, no calling platforms shitty just because you don’t like them etc. Common sense stuff, really, so you won’t be warned again.

I’m sorry if I sound harsh, but it’s getting increasingly hard for us to keep the trolling out of the community, and if that means being less tolerant, that’s the route we’ll have to take.

      • Lester Paredes

I didn’t call the platform shitty. I called the port shitty. There’s a difference.

  • komiko12

I saw Hope, Serah, Garnet, Auron, Ramza? and Freakin’ Celes!!
And they have these amazing new songs.

I think that playing songs on Ultimate would be difficult using fingers.

EDIT: Kinda wished Fang made in the roster as well Eiko.
    I like the new logo.

    • pressstart

I can see the hold triggers in field and slide triggers in general might be a problem if the screen gets dry. I know my fingers eventually get hard to slide effortlessly on the screen after playing for a while.

  • LustEnvy

No Tifa…. makes no ****ing sense.

    • komiko12

      Tifa is in.
She is just not in the trailer.

Apparently there are 25 sub characters in the port and they must be purchased.

The new characters are Celes, Tifa, Rinoa, Garnet, Auron, Balthier, Hope, Serah and Ramza.

      • LustEnvy

Thanks. Still… no Android love… this is saddening. My Note II would love this game. That or my Vita. Poor, poor Vita.

        • komiko12

Devices using Android (like Samsung phones) are much cheaper than iOS devices which is why I think more people have it. It would be great if they release more games to Android.

  • Enzo

The animations on the 3DS version are more fluid than this one. Though I really doubt that will stop anyone from getting this one. There are songs available for this one that aren’t on the 3DS one, and I kind of wish that they put them for the 3DS version, too.

  • Lunir Malheur

Kazenone!? I really want to cry, that was one of my most wanted songs for the 3ds…. Do we have any hope to see this as DLC for the 3ds? I have an iPad but I don’t play on it too much ):

  • Carlos Escalante

Plays and looks amazing on iPhone 5….but the whole experience costs more than 150 bucks……would have GLADLY paid 40 or 50 for everything, but not that obscene amount of money.

  • NANAandLIZZYfanatic

:’( Only on iPhone and iPad?

  • M’iau M’iaut

Hey folks, think I must give a group announcement here. We post about iOS and phone games because we consider them every bit a platform as any console or handheld. As such, requests for and against such ports will be treated as would would any ‘why not PS360, Vita, WiiU’ whines. We will take the appropriate actions necessary as detailed in our rules. This does not only apply to this thread. Thanks to all for your consideration.
