The first half of 2013 is freakin’ stacked with awesome games. This is pretty much the cherry on top for me. I am so excited for this.

  • Spirit Macardi

Darn, it’d be nice if they could actually use some music from the show. Like have a heavy metal instrumental version of We Are or Hikari E to play during awesome moments. The series has such iconic music, yet the last game didn’t take advantage of that. That’s like making a Gurren Lagann game and not including Sorairo Days or Rap is a Man’s Soul.

    • British_Otaku

Very few anime games make use of the original soundtrack, looking at One Piece’s selection a remix just for the opening or reused audio for the opening is lucky.

Pirate Warriors just needs a stronger soundtrack, perhaps a new main theme for this installment though the soundtrack does convey some sense of adventure, it isn’t on the scale of Unlimited Adventure (silly pun)…

      Hub area of sorts:

Of course, being an adventure game, you kinda expect each location to provide a new feeling of wonder, still… It rarely comes to mind to want the original OST…

      Another one:

      • Spirit Macardi

I realize games like these usually have a mostly original soundtrack, but if you look at something like Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage (which was made by the same people) they still included Ai wo Torimodose.

        • British_Otaku

I loved “You wa Shock!” :D

Yeah, it is actually odd now that I sit back to think about it…
Gundam Musou also had a grand selection of Gundam songs over three games and if Fist of the North Star’s Musou had at least one iconic song…

I hope they get “WE GO” then, it wouldn’t be the first game to do it, Gigant Battle 2 had the intro in trailers without vocals before the anime… It had a nice original opening as well with the same song:

Wouldn’t be a bad choice to change up the main theme for the second game…

        • AkuLord3

Well to be fair its is AI WO TORIMODOSE and hell its been in most other Hokuto no Ken games….be weird if they didn’t throw it in. Then again what One Piece song/theme has that big impact that if you listen to it you say YEAH that’s One Piece (there’s a few songs i could say).
          I know…the 4kids opening 8D

    • Testsubject909

I take it you mean songs like these huh?:

Now here’s the sad part. Epic and awesome they may be? They’re not exactly very functional for a video game, but they could do very well to set up the scene prior to combat. During the story segments for example.

Well now… How’s about we get ourselves pumped up with a few good AMVs?
Gia Secando’s Marine Ford Full Arc War. As typical for GS, high octane full combat.
And the great One Piece in 6 minutes. It does sadly omit some characters. But it’s vastly superior to the 10 minute version which was later made. You could tell that the creator wasn’t quite as inspired for his 10 minute version. The 6 minute version, while not as complete in comparison for it’s content, flows much nicer and just has that epic vibe to it that’s lacking in the 10 minute version… That and it doesn’t fall into slap yourself in the face did you really just use the lion king song for this portion moment.

  • GotoHell

The game’s looking pretty good. It’s a shame that it’s not coming out in the US.

    • Draparde

why wouldent it? i imagine it will as a digital download like the first game. unless you know something i dont?

      • GotoHell

They’ve already announced an EU release and yet there is absolutely no word on a US release. Plus, all the Americans that chose to import the European version instead of downloading the US version probably caused the game to sell horribly in the US. I haven’t quite given up on a US release yet, but if I don’t see an announcement by Monday, i’m gonna just try and forget all about this game.

        • Testsubject909

Don’t look at me. I bit the bullet and bought the game twice.

  • Risa

Hmm I’ll probably import this like I did with the first game. XP Hopefully they’ll have a collector’s edition again. I don’t mind splurging a bit when it comes to One Piece.

    • Testsubject909

If it doesn’t end up as a physical copy in North America. I’ll end up double dipping again.

Yes. I bought the game twice. Once for the physical copy I desire (it’s great for when I bring it over to a friend’s place or to lend) and once digitally to support Funimation… It hurt the wallet.

Amusingly, the digital version is having some troubles because of my PS3 being a bit on the old side… (Around 6 years old, fat 80GB PS3)

  • Zero Shift

Playable Crocodile, Mihawk, Law, Kidd, and Kizaru please.

  • sherimae1324

    i want Donquixote Doflamingo!!! ^_^

  • ragingmerifes

Gear Third in Skypiea?! Stop developing this game now and start over.

    • Chris Yuen

They might be revisiting the Skypiea chapter after unlocking it past Enies Lobby…

      • ragingmerifes

Maybe. But there’s also the chance of they making mistake.

    • Testsubject909

Playing through the first game, I can tell you there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. The moves you unlock fits with the current area they’re in and aren’t available until you get there. Meaning that the odds are high they’re just showing gameplay of when you return to…

Then again. If you look at one of the One Piece movies, Luffy uses some skills he shouldn’t be using over at Drum Island.

  • Tales_of_Master

Hohohohohoho :D I think I saw a move from the current Punk Hazard arc. That’s defiantly a relief. Punk Hazard is one of the best arcs in One Piece, and having contents from it could make the game a potential instant-buy for me. I wish they made the box art look like something based on the manga, instead of looking like a movie poster.

  • Göran Isacson

Ooh, nice way to embed Luffy’s scar into the games logo. It’s the little things…

  • MrJechgo

I LOLed at Enel’s face when “Playstation VITA” pops in. It’s like he witnessed a disaster or something XD.
I really don’t know what to expect here. The only arcs that weren’t covered in the first game were Romance Dawn (Morgan), Syrup Village (Kuro), Roguetown (Smoker), Skypeia (Enel), Davy Back (Foxy), Thriller Bark (Moria), Fishmen Island (Hody) and Punk Hazard (Ceasar). Is that gonna be enough to fill in as much as the first game? Are we gonna get one stage for any arc covered in the first game, as well as any related character, to compensate?

    • Testsubject909

Davy Back Fight could actually double over as an FF7 style Golden Saucer of multiplayer online and offline activity similar to the extra mode found in Samurai Warriors 2 where you could play a sort of board game. It would work quite well I’d say.

Thriller Bark’s large Moria boss fight could offer a larger scale semi puzzle like battle that could be reminiscent of Orochi Warrior 3’s battle against the Hydra.

There are tons of characters that they could add for our entertainment and a lot of characters from the first Pirate Warrior game that had their unique sprites and moveset that they could recycle in and enable for us to play. Actually something I’d quite enjoy is an alternate log for the opposite end, the Marines.

Like, for example: Smoker or Coby. They’d have a few stages where they would be present. Smoker in particular would start at Logue/Roguetown, move onward to the Alabasta chapter, go to the Marineford war and then in post, Punk Hazard.

  • Chris Yuen

YES! They added in Enel’s epic face.
