Sony and Naughty Dog have shared a brief behind-the-scenes clip from The Last of Us, showing off a mocap and voice-recording segment with Joel and another character, Tess, who is another of the survivors in the game. The video shows the scene in question being taken all the way from motion-capture to final in-game cutscene. Take a look at it below:

The Last of Us will be released on May 7th, 2013.

    Sorry guys. Fixed. @_@

It really is crazy the amount of work that goes into making these cutscenes look and feel believable. All for something that will last 1-2 minutes. Crazy.

Good stuff seems like its from an episode from walking dead =]

I feel like too much effort goes into games like this because of motion capture.
Probably just since those graphics are really unappealing to me and feel so similar to almost everything mainstream right now.

    • DesmaX

Actually, it’s even harder to make it manually. Motion Capture really simplify the process

It’s great to Troy Baker also did the motion capture as well as the voice. It would be hilarious if Joel actually looked liked him too. lol

Wooooah! I love it when they make vids like these. It’s always cool to see actors in mo-cap suits in the same room doing their stuff. Also, seeing it transition from the “lighting” phase to the “final” phase is crazy.

  • ragingmerifes

The actors are prettier than the characters? That’s surprisingly realistic.
