Atlus To Publish Co-Op Third-Person Shooter “God Mode”

By Ishaan . December 20, 2012 . 10:35am

Atlus USA are publishing a downloadable third-person shooter on PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network. Titled God Mode, the game features 4-player online co-op along with RPG elements and customizable characters tossed in. Take a look at the game below:

God Mode is developed by a company named Old School Games. The story starts out with you, a descendent of an ancient god, being dead. How’d that happen? This particular god’s bloodline was banished from Mt. Olympus by Hades and turned into mortals. However, the purgatory you’re now in offers you a chance at eternal life, provided you can survive the Maze of Hades.

God Mode has dozens of enemies on screen at once. Defeating them yields gold and experience. You’ll be able to upgrade your weapons throughout the game, as well as the look and equipment of your characters. As you fight, a Rage Meter will build up and allow you to use special abilities.

In order to keep things fresh, Oldschool Games made it so each round of enemies in God Mode will have a different modifier effect. In addition to fighting enemies, the game also has a PvP section at the end of each match. You can read more about the game on its official website.

God Mode will be released sometime in early 2013 for Steam, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Well, that’s not very nice. I think Hades is a pretty cool guy. This game must be slander constructed by that tyrant Zeus to keep his brother in his place!

…Anyway, my only real reaction to this game is “mite b cool.”

    • xavier axol

“I think Hades is a pretty cool guy” he sounds very fruity in this game if you ask me, which doesn’t help. but it could be a fun game to play if you’re into to fps games.

      • MrRobbyM

Idk, I liked happy Hades’ voice.

      • MediaMindControl

It is in third person as you may have seen in the trailer, and actually Hades would be “fruity” If all those extremists are right about the Bible.

  • monkey

    Atlus good decisions

    etrian IV
    devil hacker
    dragon crown

    Bad decision
    zeno clash II

They are still ahead on there good decisions for 2013 by 1.

    • Altritter

Maybe Game of Thrones was a bad decision, because it wasn’t a good game, but you shouldn’t call these two bad until they actually come out. This looks like it could be fun, and I liked the first Zeon Clash.

        1) I was only refering to whats out
        2) all of there western published lets get quick money deals have all been shovelware in the end

        • Muffum

“What’s out”? Zeno Clash II, God Mode, and Dragon’s Crown aren’t released anywhere, and Etrian Odyssey IV and Soul Hackers (I assume that’s what you were referring to) are only out in Japan.

    • Dude, no more warnings after this. Read our posting guidelines please:

Just because you don’t care about a game doesn’t mean nobody else does. Please don’t do this again. As for their so-called “Western shovelware,” Atlus also published Trine and Trine 2, both of which are damn good games.

      • Hollowkoopa

They also published Rock of Ages which was a pretty fun game.

        • MediaMindControl

That Game is amazing. I think this one looks pretty fun too. I enjoy that castle crashers-eske pvp at the end of levels. :]

    • Luna Kazemaru

Oh know atlus doing something that’s not anime or ‘japanese’ its the end of the world!!!

  • Hollowkoopa

This game could be fun but lets wait and see.

  • MrRobbyM

I wouldn’t buy this but it does look pretty fun. I might recommend this to a few people though.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Hmm… gonna pass on this one, but the overall premise does sound intriguing.

Also, that “spiritual guide”‘s voice was… interesting, if that is supposed to be Hades or not. However, the only Hades I will truly acknowledge is James Woods.

  • Magus KilIer

This game will make some pretty awkward google searches

  • amagidyne

Hmm. I like the idea but this is Atlus USA. Most of the European games they’ve released are things that, were they made today, would be found in a list of botched and failed Kickstarter campaigns. I’m beginning to suspect their strategy is having someone blindfolded fish through a bargain bin in Krakow and ordering a shipment of whatever they have in their hands after five minutes.

Anyway, my point is that I don’t trust them.

  • Crok425

After this I hope they try to localize Eternal Punishment.

  • So it seems as though Old School Games is a subsidiary of Saber Interactive, who made Timeshift and Inversion. Both those games were flawed but enjoyable to some extent. I remain cautiously optimistic, and the fact that it’s a cheap downloadable game means I will probably still check it out since the cost of entry is low.

  • “Oooooo so soon I can’t wait.”

    This^ lol=^_^=

  • Meh let them dabble in western games. What they use for these projects are marketing and publishing staff, the translators are busy working on the typical games we love Atlus for it isn’t like these games prevent them from not working on them and if they profit it would help them overall.

  • Göran Isacson

Incredibly fey spirit guide has the potential to be very funny, or very annoying. I shall hope for the former.

  • Lazulis

Um. Okay. Loving that spirit guide and his fabulousness. I’ll keep up with the news for this for sure.

  • brian

For some reason, I was reminded of Catacombs by that description.
I suppose maybe just because it has a “maze” with RPG elements and co-op shooting.
