Dead or Alive 5 Plus Out In March; Lets You Touch And Pinch Your Opponent

By Ishaan . December 20, 2012 . 10:06am

Dead or Alive 5 Plus on the PlayStation Vita has new features like a Touch Play mode and a Training Plus mode. In Touch Play mode, you can hold your Vita vertically and you get a first-person view of your opponent. This mode also changes how you fight.

There are two modes in Touch Play mode. In Mode 1, you tap your opponent to attack them in that spot. In Mode 2, you can touch, flick and pinch your opponent for more attack options.

Meanwhile, Training Plus mode lets you build up your skills and knowledge of the game by playing through various training missions. Finally, Dead or Alive 5 Plus will also have more detailed frame data. Team Ninja are adding additional information like delay interval frames, move reach and more to the game.

Dead or Alive 5 Plus will be released on March 19th, 2013 in North America. You’ll be able to battle against Dead or Alive 5 players on the PlayStation 3, as well as share costumes across both the PS3 and Vita versions of the game.

    Uh oh

  • eilegz

touch!!! nice….. now bundle the costumes…

  • Shuryou

Now let’s wait until the other fighting game franchises pick up on this new innovation. I want to pinch my Tekken girls.

  • Well, there goes Team Ninja’s short-lived drive for “dignity”.

    • Closet_Ninja

it never really worked for them in the first place

      • psycho_bandaid

sad but true. The fans want boobs, so boobs will be delivered in earnest. oh well, not like absolutely everything has to be politically correct.

    • Göran Isacson

And to think, it could have worked if they actually tried to replace fanservice with actual, quality writing, plots and characters.

But since that was probably not going to happen, boobs it is.

    • Testsubject909

It went away midway through DOA5’s development, to be honest.

  • shion16

    My S sense is tingling

  • Enma_Kozato

Personally, I’d hit harder if I was ever pinched or flicked in a fight.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

thats a bit creepy even for an otaku

    • xzeldax3

You don’t know how far real otaku can go.

      • Testsubject909

I’ve seen how far an otaku can go… It’s depressingly sad and at times disgusting on many moral levels.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

no your right………..*looking at my copy of RapeLay * your right >:3

        • Testsubject909

RapeLay has, at least from what I’ve heard, an ending that could arguably be considered good. The main protagonist, the instigator of all the crimes and the stalker you control, gets killed. Also it follows certain usual hentai doujin stereotypes I think.

On the other hand… Virgin Roster? That one… I played it back in high school and boy, that thing is traumatic. You’ll shrink from playing it because of how horrible you’ll feel by playing that game. Man, kudos to the voice actresses… They really portrait trauma, fear, desperation and overall terror perhaps a bit too well.

          • ShawnOtakuSomething

Sir it is awful however, Artificial Girl 3 has some really sick ummmm yeah nvm don’t want to talk about it

  • psycho_bandaid

the touch controls sounds like a waste of development time. Still I guess they wanted to put something new in at least.

  • And so Vita got saved in Japan

    • Testsubject909

Just wait for the article where they talk about taking photo shoots and making use of the motion control to create bouncing motion.

  • Tee Niitris

Other details (that may be mentioned in a future article).

    1. BGM customization (Good. I hate DoA5’s music, main reason I can’t play it for too long).

    2. Cheerleader outfit DLC (pre-order bonus, will be paid DLC after launch. So far, it’s Kasumi, Ayane, and Tina)

    3. Collector’s edition for Vita (currently only for Japan) include:

Another set of swimsuits (of course).
A second voulme to the aforementioned soundtrack I hate.
An “I’m a Fighter” custom skin (PSV exclusive).
And an “Extreme Private Gravure” video (of the cutest girls in video games as Team Ninja would put it; possibly an hint at Xtreme 3?).

I wish there were spoiler tags… I feel a bit bad for posting this.

    • Demeanor

Thumbs up for custom tracks, I love Tekken Tunes, crammed it full with Vocaloid songs XD I’ll do the same with this

    • MrSirFeatherFang

I liked the previous DoA games’ music. They were pretty memorable since I played them back in the day a lot.

  • dr000d

Any other extras? All the DLC costumes already on the cartridge or something?

    • Tee Niitris

No other extras I know of.

I’m guessing they are; they can be shared, so I’m guessing that the PSV version won’t have the previous DLC already unlocked.

    • Nitraion

I think they will be not do that…
Maximum is sharing costume i think…

  • xavier axol

netherealms studios did a good job porting mortal kombat to the vita, i hope that team ninja improves on that and make it look like the console version without losing performance. more modes, characters, and new outfits are a plus in my book. it also helps if it can cross play with the ps3 version, it would make me forget that they’re doing some naughty things with the touch screen. that i would probably try anyways… (-_-)’ *i mean, who doesn’t like to see ayane and kasumi in a more personal way?* .

  • Sergio Briceño

If these aren’t bullshots… Then PLEASE Tecmo make a new IP for Vita!!!!

PS: I know its a little unrelated but. @ladius Do you still think the Vita couldn’t handle a game like ToV after seeing what Team Ninja is capable of with the console. Ok, maybe it isn’t cell shading but it’s way too impressive. And on the cell shading department we still got this.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. Wonder how you move in that first person mode… or dodge. Or do holds and advanced combos, or do anything that basically involves actual fighting and not getting your virtual cyber-grope on.

    • Testsubject909

Wrong mentality and approach. It’s obviously a grope simulator.

      • Göran Isacson

… Well yes, but I was trying to dance around the subject and pretend there was still some dignity left in this discussion. But, if you want to just crush my delusions go right ahead ;_; …

        • Testsubject909

Dignity!? There is no place for this here! THIS. IS. DOA! *kicks you into the gutter*

          • Göran Isacson

            *goes into the gutter.

flies up right into the flight trajectory of a car who also happene to explode just a second ago. why? because this is DOA*

  • Nitraion

    Wow don’t tell me….
in FPS mode “we are fighter”
DOA 5=Most fighter fans service of the year…
although i really like battle system, but their DLC management is really2 bad…

  • MrSirFeatherFang

I don’t remember a beach stage in the original DoA5.
This would be a pretty fun portable game to have around. Though I don’t feel like buying a similar game twice on another system. Though there’s also the survival legend I never got to beat either…
