God Eater 2’s New Aragami, Demiurgos, Sure Looks Creepy

By Ishaan . December 20, 2012 . 3:35pm

Namco Bandai have released new screenshots of God Eater 2, showing off one of the new weapons in the game—the Charge Spear. The Charge Spear uses a “hit and away” technique of battling monsters, and comes with its own set of special abilities and “Blood Arts”. Here’s a look at the weapon in action:

Moving along, Namco also showed off characters from the game. Below are Elina and a new character, Gilbert:

And finally, here’s a fiendish-looking boss from God Eater 2—Demiurgos, one of the new Aragami that’s in the game.

Dayum. This is looking pretty good. I really dig the change in art direction with 2. Hope-hope-hopefully this gets picked up for a US release.

  • Revorse

Hey uh, I’m glad there is a sequel and all cause I like the game….but isn’t their universe doomed?

    • It’s over ever since they rejected the Aegis Project.

  • Ivan Junior

OMG I’m so excited for this game, already bought a vita ^^

  • MrRobbyM

I’m really liking these screen shots. It looks a bit different than the PSP game which is a good thing. Another reason to get a Vita +1.

  • The art style is awesome. I really love the character designs as well. I hope that the game will play as well as it looks because this would become a great seller for the Vita. Hopefully we get a localization of this game.

  • Eileen Sy

I really hope this game is localized.

Which one is this taking place after again? Burst’s extra stuff or the original?
Has it been said yet? I can’t seem to remember.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Well Burst happens directly after the Original so there’s no way this is is anywhere except after the entire thing.

      • Zal_Yagun

2 is suppose to take place 3 year after the events from the original game, and since burst continues the story i think its safe to assume that its canon.

        • FitzpatrickPhillips

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

This happens after the original game, in earlier articles you’ll see how Soma and the female new type (was her name Alysa) look more mature than they did in Gods Eater Burst~.

  • Creepy monster. This game seems to be a good one.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Very nice. Loving the spear, and I wanna try it out so badly on that new Aragami. Pointy Sticks, unite!!

  • Demiurgos looks right out of P4 o__O CREEPY.

  • Aisioux

I don’t think I’ll be waiting for a US release, I am going to directly upload my brain to the matrix. Hack into Play-Asia and have them order this bad boy for me and send them $100 dollars in their account. This game is another must have. PS Vita HOOOO!

  • My vita NEEDS this game!

  • Go2hell66

that supposed to be scary? i see people have already forgotten ouroboros from gods eater burst, that was fkin scary!

    • natchu96

Ouroboros was probably forgotten because he fkin sucked.

So huge you can’t really miss, stands still a lot, and the damage output on that thing isn’t all that high. Tsukiyomi, on the other hand . . . *shivers* I’m not fighting that thing again.

      • Go2hell66

i never said he was hard, but he’s so fking big and looks like a fking cthulu, nearly shat my pants the first time i saw it

        • natchu96

I guess what I meant was that it did look scary, but after fighting it it’s hard to not think of the guy as a complete joke.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      Fallen ouroboros is just omg

  • raymk

Can’t wait for this game. You know assuming it gets localized and all.

  • MediaMindControl

I hope they have touch screen potion controls like Ragnarok Odyssey!

  • Göran Isacson

Question from a God Eater noob, what ARE the Amagami? Monster Hunters monsters are basically just giant animals, like dinosaurs or what have you, but what are these fleshy abominations supposed to be?

    • They’re GRIMDARK artificial giant animals / machine hybrids / mutated whatsits, meant to fit in with the GRIMDARK world.

    • natchu96

According to the cutscenes, even the humans aren’t entirely sure what they are and where the heck they came from. They just found these single-celled organisms that can devour and incorporate any matter into themselves one day, and after a few months they started to group together into colonies with specialized components, like how scientists think multicellular life evolved. A few more months, they superseded billions of years of “normal” carbon-based life’s development, became like this, and wiped out about a whole continent’s worth of civilization. It took only a year or two. They are still very, very single-cellular entities, though, so cutting them appart just means the cells will pull back together. And the blade gets devoured on the way through, of course.

So claims the game’s built-in database that contains fairly interesting stuff.

      • veinzerx

+ they can evolve… not in the midst of battle though… imagine if Vajra suddenly evolved to Prithvi Mata.. it would be… nevermind.. remembered of Digimon

      • Göran Isacson

Ah, so they’re basically a form of living cancer shaped like vaguely statue-esque… things. And the super weapons you use are also some kind of monsters, aren’t they?

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    :{ localize!!

  • Christopher Nunes

Those screenshots look amazing! I really hope this game gets localized, I finally beat Gods Eater Burst a few days ago and I loved the storyline… dude the Protagonist was kickbutt in the final scenes of the game.

Quick Question, what happens to our Protagonist from Gods Eater Burst? Will the save data transfer have the GE2 Protagonist be our GE1 Protagonist or will the GE1 Protagonist be unlocked as a special character to have as a party member? The last one would be cool and it would be nice to know what happens to the GE1 Protagonist seeing as Soma, Alisa, and Kota return for GE2 and its been 3 years. Makes me wonder what happen to the GE1 Protagonist?

I wonder if the data transfer will have a scene similar to Phantasy Star Portable 2 with Viva.

When’s this coming out in Japan again? And what are the chances of this game coming over to the US and will D3 Publisher bring it over just like GEB?

    • benhofb

Hmmm. I was wondering that as well… Although it is probably possible in the PSP version of GE2, I have no idea whether or nor the Vita can import save data from PSP titles into Vita titles. That’d be pretty damn swanky if it did though!

      • Christopher Nunes

What about the Downloadable version on the Vita? Wouldn’t that work out, considering your import the save data already on the Vita system to the game for the Vita system.

        • benhofb

Just because the save data for the first game is on the Vita, that doesn’t change the fact it is still a PSP game on the Vita. Both are different beasts with different strings of code. It is probably possible to import data, but I would imagine it would be pretty hard due to the difference in code. As to your first post, it is supposedly coming out in Japan during 2013. No word on a US release, but it all depends on the sales of GEB if the US publishers will bring it over.

          • Christopher Nunes

But they’re both a PSP and Vita version for God Eater on the PSP so surely, with importing Save Data from the original and Burst versions, they have something planned out to allow the Vita version to import the save data to the game.

It might be difficult but not impossible.

  • neogeno

Jeez, these skills really look awesome. And to think, there are over “100” of them. Demiurgos body structure reminds me of Ouroboro. I hope it behaves uniquely enough. One thing I’ve noticed is that a good number of the Aragami in GE lack character and tend to act as carbon copies. Still very excited about this game. A must have for me.

  • This looks mightily sexy. It’s a far cry from the older PSP/3DS – Vita cross platform games where the Vita version was merely running at higher (i.e. native) rez with some higher resolved textures. This looks more like a re-make. Look at all those sexy polygons, shaders and lighting (^-^)

  • Tianyu Wei

wow… this looks good… Who needs MonHun? :/
