Super Mario Bros. 3 is headed to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Japan. Nintendo will release the game on January 1st for 500 yen.

Super Mario Bros. 3 was the game that introduced the Tanooki Suit and the Super Leaf to the series. It was the last Super Mario title for the NES.

They’d be fools not to give this to the States as well later.

You got that right, I would definitely get this regardless of already having the game for the NES with me.

First party VC games that were already localized are generally guaranteed to come out in other regions. So it’ll definitely show up. It may take time but it’ll show up.

I still wish the GBA version was re-released. That version was awesome, especially with the e-reader cards to get bonus levels & power-ups from other games (like the feather from Super Mario World).

I’ve always been interested in those e-reader bonus levels. Looked really cool when I looked them up on YouTube. That’s one of the reasons I am excited to see more DLC content from Nintendo.

Man, I didn’t even think about that version. It’s totally true though, releasing that version WOULD be awesome… but I guess they want to release both in order to squeeze maximum profit out of the nostalgia hungering customers first ;)

I hope they would release it in 3D remake like Kirby, Excite Bike and the others.
